Title: Hunts marriage index lookup - Colbert
Post by: gazania on Wednesday 02 December 09 00:43 GMT (UK)
Hi,

Could I please have a lookup in the marriage index about 1820-1837 for the following:

John Colbert (b1796 Brington or Brampton) to Ann unknown ( b 1796 Gt Raveley or 1800 Wood Walton)

Their known children are:

Mary Ann b 1826  Bythorn  (direct ancestor)
Elizabeth  b 1829  Bythorn  ( nothing else)
Thomas   b 1832  St Neots ( married with children)

The family have been located in all censuses at St Neots.

Thank you, Gazania

Hello Gazania
I am very interested in Colbert/Gotobed as I have recently discovered my Elizabeth Gotobed is sister to your Ann Gotobed.
I did find a baptism for John Colbert (transcribed as Colberd) on 25 Dec 1799 at St Andrew, Abbots Ripton, Huntingdonshire.  Abbots Ripton is where Ann Gotobed lived too.

Would love to explore more esp with Gotobed.

regards
Rosalie

Hi Rosalie,
The Colbert/Gotobed family was my late husband’s family. He did his research in the 1990s when records were not as accessible as they are these days. So there is not a lot I can help you with, sadly.
OH would have loved to known more. I can tell you that a descendant of Ann Gotobed migrated to Australia.
Best wishes, Gazania

Thank you for your reply Gazania.
I started off with paper and pen research and am grateful now for online records.
Your late husband's family of Gotobed was/is huge and keeps me on my toes.

I notice in the Colbert/Gotobed that TWO family members came to Australia.  Queensland and South Australia.

More research to be done.
