Please can anyone help me.
I am trying to locate where i can get details of my grandparents. My grandfather served in the Royal Marine Commando's in ww2, i have been told he went to the invasion of Italy, and went to Normandy on the 2nd day, however, i dont know what regiment he served in.
My grandmother was in the Wrens during the second world war, however i don't know where or who she served with.
Please can anyone tell me how i go about finding out where they served, when they served etc.. any help would be appreciated..
Thank you in advance x

Hi
Please try the following: www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/service_records.html. They may be able to link you into the Navy records which both of these would come under. If your mother(or her sisters/brothers) is still living she would have to request the documents. If you look on a Royal Marines website you may be able to find out which commando unit your grandfather was on by matching where the units were in relation to Italy and Normandy. The archivists at their museum if they have one may also be able to help.
I am sure that Scrimnet will have some other great suggestions so good luck.
