One of my families has a child registered in 1902 in the Lancaster district.
In 1911 his place of birth is given as "Dawson City, Lancs".
The father was an engine driver, and the family moved around the country quite a bit. He was born in Stok on Trent, married his Cardiff-born wife in Rutland, one child born Norfolk, one Warrington.....
With him driving engines, I suspect that they were in Carnforth, though there's no baptism at Christ Church there.
Anyone else heard of Dawson City?

Off the top of my head... was it one of those temporary settlements near Heysham, like the Klondyke community?

That's the chap!
Another Google tells me that Klondike and Dawson City were the housing areas used by the people building Heysham Harbour around that time.
Another win for Rootschatters!

Dawson City was one of the two navvy towns set up at Heysham to build Heysham Harbour - and were there 1898-1904. Dawson City was the smaller of the two and is currently believed to have been sited off Combermere Road where Trumacar School is now. Dawson City also have quite a reputation for being the place where 'ladies of the night' resided. I used to live right across the road to the site - Jackie
