This is my first look-up request. Please let me know if it could have been improved. My thanks to everyone who looks at it.
I'm seeking information about Winifred Kate Harris and Herbert Allen Talmage, reportedly married in Ramsbury in 1911. I have a fair bit of information about him and two of their sons, but little about her and a third son, and would like to verify and extend what I have:
Herbert Allen Talmage b. June 1889 in Ramsbury, son of Tobias and Louisa Talmage.
Birth of a Winifred Kate Harris registered Hungerford Q3 1894.
1901 census shows a Winifred Harris age 6 in Lambourn, Berks* (also six others elsewhere).
Marriage(s) of Winifred K Harris and of Herbert A Talmage registered Hungerford in Q4 1911 and believed to have taken place in Ramsbury.
son William Alec Talmage b. May 1912 Ramsbury.
son Edward Talmage b. 1913 Ramsbury.
son (?name) born 1914-1918, believed to have died young.
After Herbert's death in 1917, Winifred Talmage is believed to have remarried (possibly more than once); surname at death thought to have been Smith.[/li]

* Ramsbury parish is in East Wiltshire, but official registrations were in Hungerford, Berks. Winifred was perhaps born not in Ramsbury but somewhere in Berkshire.

I've just discovered birth of Herbert R Talmage registered Hungerford Q1 1917, mother's maiden name Harris, on FreeBMD, and a death at age 17 of Herbert R Talmage in Q2 1934, also registered Hungerford.

There only seems to be the 3 children you have found all reg. Hungerford.

So looks like she was in Essex.
Births SANDFORD, Mothers name Talmage
1923, Male reg Rochford
There are others earlier as well, where Mothers name is just down as Sandford. This is a possibility;

Boy, is he hard to work out on Census;
1891 census the Talmages ( Tobias and Louisa) are in Wiltshire;
Herbert seems to be down as Bertie age 1.

1901 there is a Herbert A, born 1897 with them . Image actually says age 11 ( born c 1890).

We are not allowed to post 1911 census
but
there is a Herbert Talmage in index age 21
living High St Ramsbury with parents and siblings
He is a cycle News agent (own account)

trish - you are correct 1901 census herbert's age is transcribed as 4 but image clearly shows age as 11

1901 herbert's sister is Ada M age 3 b Ramsbury
Her birth reg gives her name as Ida May Talmage Jun qtr 1898 Hungerford 2c 266
In 1911 census she is May age 12
sister Rose Louisa Talmage is a Boarder with the Jordan family in 1901

1911 Rose is still single , a school teacher and living with parents
By 1911 Tobias and Louisa claim they have had 7 children but only 6 are still living -so there is another child to find

Thank you, Trish and Suz. I had found the marriage in Rochford, but it seemed not necessarily the same Winifred K Talmage, since there were other possibilities. The further details you have unearthed all seem to make good sense and confirm this marriage.
There seem to be too many Sandford births around the country in the period to be reasonably sure of any except, perhaps, the 1923 male registered in Rochford.

I don't think that is correct marriage Trish -there is a Rose Talmage on 1901 census b.c. 1890 living in Andover reg dist.
Herbert's sister is Rose Louisa Talmage

We haven't reall done much work on Winifred kate -and there must be more to do on Herbert.
Just ask for whatever look up you require - if you want a certain census looking up -or siblings i= whatever you like.

Thank you for those kind words. I think I'll call this request complete, for now anyway. I'm really only starting out and haven't done very much work myself yet, so I can hardly get other people to do it all for me.
But I'll certainly come back again when I have some more specific requests! :)

I think that is a good idea -sometimes we get carried away and overwhelm people with information
It is best to digest the information you have so far and then when you reach a hold up you can always ask for more assistance either on this topic - or on a new one. It is always more exciting when you do find thngs yourself

Few years too late I know...
I have also been researching the talmages as I believe they are related to my family. The parents of Tobias talmage are Mary panting (1812) and john talmage (1812).
Mary panting is the daughter of john panting and Amelia rushen (1789-1871).
This then goes back to Thomas rushen (1748) and Mary plumb (1750), George rushen (1720) and Anne looker (1721), Andrew rushen (1687-1758).
I am trying to link the Rushen's to my current family but am struggling with finding more recent information. I appear to be missing a link between 1850 and now. If you have any info if you could let mme know :)

1. In what way(s) do you think your ancestry may be related to mine?
2. Which of the Rushens do you think could be your own ancestor? I have a fair number of Rushen relatives, some still living. Thomas Rushen b.1748 and his wife Mary Plumb appear to have had around ten children. As yet I have only followed the descendants of his daughter (my third great grandmother) Amelia. But I would be happy to pursue other lines - especially if it could turn out that you and I are related.
