My great aunt left the UK after she got married to a South African who was based at Bordon Army camp. She got married on the 18 May 1912, and I have letters sent from her to her sister in 1917.
I am trying to find out how she got to SA.

Hello
Ok, my great aunt was Dorothy West and married Ronald Cayton on the 18th May 1912. Ronald was a South African based at Bordon camp although I dont think he was attached to a South African army as they dont seem to appaer in Bordon until 1916.
My Great aunt got to South Africa some how and lived in Johannesburg, we have pictures and letters from her.
Kind Regards

Hi, not sure about this but there is a previous thread on this topic by a 'Captain Pancake' started 5 nov 2009. Is this you under another name?????
I don't know how to link threads.
As the other thread goes to 3 pages i am not going to continue as will probably only repeat what has gone before.

Hi
Captin Pancake is my brother, we still dont have any info re how my Great aunt got to SA. I am trying to track down how she got to SA, if shee went with any troops that left Bordon camp or if they made there own way back.
During that period of history I am assuming that travel would have been quite hard dur to the first world war starting and all the troubles in SA it self.
