Hi Robin Hood
Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.
Have you made any progress, or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?
Look forward to hearing from you.

My G Grandfather was Patrick Kilgallon born Mayo in 1856. His father was Patrick also. Could Anthony be a relation?

Their children: Ellen, 1871; Anne 1877; Catherine 1874; Biddy 1864; Patrick 1867; Mary 1869; Honor 1862 and Agnes 1881 or 1882.

I have a list of some Bohola Parish Marriages and Baptisms.
There is a Patrick Kilgallan married to Bridget Noon 2/21/1860;
another Patrick Kilgallan married to Catherine Byrne 1/31/1878
a third Patrick Kilgallan married to Mary McNicholas 3/18/1862
a Patrick Kilgallon married Anne Byrne 2/10/1900
In Shraheens/Bohola, there is an Andrew Kilgallan married to a Mary Hyland/Highland with a son James Kilgallan b. 4/23/1871 and a daughter Margret Kilgallan b. 9/15/1862, John Kilgallan b. 4/22/1860; Catty Kilgallan 11/6/1865; Anne b. 1/30/1858; William Kilgallon 9/27/1868; and Andrew b. 1/11/1874
Some of the baptismal sponsor names match my Kilgallen family.
Patrick or "Patt" was a common first name used by the Kilgallen/Killgallon/Kilgallin families.
I met with some of the Kilgallen family when I visited Kiltimagh a few years ago. There is still family living there. One of them owns the "Shepard and the Flock" tavern on Aiden Street in Kiltimagh.

Re; JM Roach Reply
Thank you for your information, it has been helpful. As I have said above my G G Grandfather was Patrick Kilgallen born 1856 Mayo but he married in Wigan, England to Mary Foley 01/10/1876. From his marriage certificate I can tell you his fathers name is Patrick also and from census records his mothers name is Ellen (1825-1884 (Born in Mayo died in Wigan, England)). Have you got any marriages for a Patrick and Ellen. I am assuming they married in the 1840s 1850s???

Anthony Kilgallon is the son of Micheal 'Rua' Kilgallon and Mary McDonagh, who are my great-grandparents.
-
Hello -
Anthony Kilgallon, son of Michael 'Rua' and Mary McDonagh, married Ellen Carroll. Their daughter Mary, born 1891, married William Carney and their daughter Gertrude, born 1923, is my wife's mother.
Apart from Anthony, Michael 'Rua' Kilgallon and Mary McDonagh had eight other children - Thomas, Martin, Bridget, Patrick, John, Mary, Michael and William.
If you think that any of the information I have may be of interest to you, let me know and I will gladly share it with you.

My Grandfather, Martin married Margaret Kilgallon(2nd cousin from the Bohola side I think) and had 7 children. My mother Sheila was great friends with Gertie Kitching. Is that the same Gertrude?
-
Hello -
I assume, therefore, that your father was either John Patrick or Martin Thomas Kilgallon. Gertie Kilgallon, who married George Kitching, was the daughter of Anthony Kilgallon and Ellen Carroll, as was Mary Kilgallon, married to William Carney. My wife's mother, Gertie Carney, was Gertie Kilgallon's niece.

-
My mother, Sheila Kilgallon, was the daughter of Martin Kilgallon, therefore Gertie Kilgallon's first cousin.
-
Hello -
The seven children of Martin Kilgallon and Margaret Kilgallon are, as far as I am aware, John Patrick, born 1906, Mary Cecilia, born 1907, Bridget Agnes, born 1908, Margaret Teresa, born 1909, Martin Thomas, born 15 October 1911, Annie Kate, born 23 January 1914, and Celia Mary, born 15 July 1915.
Martin Kilgallon died 21 January 1934 and Margaret Kilgallon, daughter of Thomas Kilgallon and Celia, died 25 November 1948.
There are so many similarities that I cannot believe that we are talking about different people, but I have never come across a Sheila Kilgallon. Could it be a variation of Celia?

See census 1911, Treannagleragh (Ardlee, Mayo), Martin and Margaret at that point, have John, Mary (May) and Margaret(Delia). Martin, Annie and Sheila followed.

HI my ancestor came from Sligo/Mayo and she was Bridget Kilgallon. She came over to the West Midlands, (near to Birmingham) in the 1800s and married John Banks. I have been trying to locate her family for a number of years. Could we be related? Please contact me on (*)

Hello -
I have not come across the name Banks, but Michael Rua Kilgallon's daughter Bridget was born in Mayo in 1864 and could, possibly, be the person you are looking into. I do not have any further information about her at the moment, but if you think it may be her, I could tell you more about her brothers and sisters.

We have Kilgallens from Swinford and earlier, Treenagleragh. I am wondering if any of your family members or you have done family tree DNA testing (with 23andme, FTDNA, etc.). If so, please let me know, it may help figure out Kilgallen/Kilgallon connections with our documented research. Thank you.
