I would gratefully appreciate any information you can share with me about the attached photograph of an older lady.  I am trying to date this photo.

I am not a restorer or dater but in my opinion it looks kindof 1860/1870's?
Prue or Jim will probably give you a better date

Annette is about right with this.The dress style is a mid 1860's fashion so mid-late 1860's I would say.

Oh, lovely...mid 1860s. Shame it's been cropped :P

Hope you have some more really old ones...if you post any for dating or restoration please scan in colour at 300dpi  :)

Thankyou to everyone who has helped to date this old photo.

Yes it is a shame it was cropped - it was done donkeys years ago to fit into an old photo frame.  It has always been in that frame as far as anyone can remember.
