Would any one have information on Michael Nash, Clash Kanturk, who was on Return of Owners of Land Ireland, 1876, married to Ellen Lyons. He was my gtgfr. Seems to have had Catherine and James. Other siblings?

Not sure how much information you have already
But here is what i found
Catherine Nash Birth 25-Oct-1865 Kanturk Co.Cork Parents: Michael Nash and Ellen Lyons
James Nash Birth 15-Oct-1870 Parents: Michael Nash and Ellen Lyons
Michael Nash marriage 1851 Roman Catholic parish of Ballyclough
Ellen Lyons marriage 1851 Roman Catholic Parish of Ballyclough
You could purchase the marriage record on
Mallow Heritage Centre Site (http://corknortheast.brsgenealogy.com/quis.php?page=0&prevStartQuery=0)
In Griffiths Valuation taken in 1851 there is a Thomas Nash in Clash.
Thomas Nash Griffiths Valuation (http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doNameSearch&familyname=Nash&firstname=Thomas&baronyname=&countyname=CORK&unionname=&parishname=KILBRIN&Submit.x=40&Submit.y=14)
If you click on original page icon you can see Thomas Nash is renting most of the townland and sub-letting then to others.
Griffiths Valuation is not a census and would only have the head of household/the person paying the rent on it.
Reading this link would be worth it
http://www.kilbrin.net/KilbrinHistorySub14.html
There seems to be alot of information about the Nash families in Kilbrin on there around half way down the page. No doubt that the Thomas Nash/Michael Nash of Clash are close connected to the people mentioned in this link.
In the Tithe of 1833
http://myhome.ispdr.net.au/~mgrogan/cork/kilbrin.htm
There is a James Nash Esq. living in Clash.
Looks like these Nash family's were well connected.

Thank you for this wonderful amount of information. I thought they were C.of I. but apparently not. I had an idea he might have had this THOMAS as a father. I will add this to my website. There was a farm owned by LYONS in same istrict, so I assumed that was Ellen Lyons family. Now I must find out about LYONS.
Thank you Lorraine

The tradition was to usually marry in the home parish of bride.
So perhaps the Lyons originated in Ballyclough parish.
There appears to be a few Lyons families in Ballyclogh/Ballyclough at time of Griffiths

Note that www.kilbrin.net also has a graveyard inscriptions page, which gives tombstone inscriptions of all headstones in the local graveyard.
Within Section C of the graveyard, one of the inscriptions referenced n the previous link (http://www.kilbrin.net/KilbrinHistorySub14.html) can be found with some addditional names, as follows:
The burial place of the Nash family of Rockfield 1807.
In memory of Christopher Crofts Sherlock.
Died January 1 1928.
His wife Katherine Maria.
Died July 10 1948.
His sons John Carey Sherlock.
Died 1906
Richard Croft Sherlock.
Died March 23 1943
His wife Elizabeth Jane.
Died August 27 1986.
Christopher Croft Sherlock.
Died February 4 1978.
See http://www.kilbrin.net/KilbrinGraveyardSectionC.html, tombestone entry C100.
I'm unsure what the link between the Nash family and the Sherlock family is....

Thanks to Gerald Murphy and MHannon. I will sort through this My website is Radleys of Cork, who eventually married into Nash/Leahy family. I was told there were other siblings, but they may have been before Civil Registration.

Hi!,
I am descended from a Stephen Lyons 1827, co. Cork, probable parents Timothy & Honorah, siblings John 1832, Timothy 1834 & Patrick 1840. Whilst searching for which part of county Cork they came from I have been through all the fiches held in the NLI Dublin.
I have some facts on the offspring of your ggrandfather, including .
18/01/1852 William to Michael Nash & Ellen Lyons. Sp. M. Callaghan.
Meanwhile, if anyone has anything to offer me on the above, I would be most grateful. Two of Stephen's descendants, Stephen James Lyons 1906 and James M. Lyons,1911,went to work for the Hudson Bay Company in Montreal in the 1930s, and I am eager to link up with their descendants.

Corisande I have sent you a personal message. See www.radleysofcork.bigpondhosting.com for NASH details. Lorraine

Perhaps somebody local can help me here, please?.
The only Clash I can find is near Enniskean, where there is another group of LYONS. Where exactly is Clash in, or near, Kanturk?.
Many Thanks.

Now have birth cert. of Catherine Nash. R.C. Ballyclough (near Kanturk). One of witnesses was the sister in law of Ellen Lyons (Catherine's mother) She was married to JOHN LYONS. Her name was Catherine (Kate) CARVER. Other wit.could have been connected to WILLIAM LYONS and HONORA SULLIVAN. Witness was CORNELIUS SULLIVAN.

John Lyons & Catherine Carver had 3 children 1858 - 1865, so does Catherine Nash's 1865 b.c. give Catherine Lyons as the witness?, and does it say she was nee Carver and a sister-in-law. I never found the actual marriage in the Ballyclough records, but I do have that of William Lyons to Honora Sullivan in 1846.
If you get the 1851 m.c of Michael Nash to Ellen Lyons, I would love to know any details on it, please.
-
The church Baptism Record says KATE CARVER. I assume wife of JOHN LYONS as it matches fiche. I am satisfied that the bap.rec .1865/6, Ballyclough and death certificate 1943, Brisbane Qld. Aus. belong to same person... my gma Catherine Nash. I will look into marriage cert.

CLASH is right next to BALLYNOE where Michael Nash & Ellen Lyons lived. Marriage record says that was their address.Witnesses were THOMAS LYONS AND CATHERINE CONNELL. 1851. See a map of KILBRIN on www.kilbrin.net. Says nothing else.

Lorraine, thanks for that. I had in fact located Clash on a present day ordnance survey map after that post and have now found Ballynoe too.
I have added those marriage and baptism details to an NLI LYONS Data list that I compiled after two visits there and will send you this list to see if any other baptisms or marriages connect.
Meanwhile, if anyone else descends from any LYONS in this area ,or any other area of Cork, please post!

It would be great to speak to both of you since there seems to be a connection between us. What areas do you live in now by Nan May Winters as I may have mention has recently been buried at the tomb in Kilbrin. Her sons and sister in law still live at Rockfield Ballyheen. What Id love to find out is the names of any Nash that may have also been buried at the graveyard before 1928 as the tomb seems to read burial place of the Nash family of Rockfield 1807.
