Title: Parish registers--Campbell, Margaret
Post by: DeirdreMc on Friday 11 March 05 15:54 GMT (UK)
Hello  :) my ggrandmother Margaret Campbell was suppose to have been born in Carrickmacross in 1871. She was Presbyterian, I am trying to find any info on her or her family (Campbells) in this area during this time period.

Background : She was disowned by her family when she married my ggrandfather John J. Foley a Catholic. She possibly had a brother George Campbell who died as a child.

Any help is greatly appreciate
Deirdre :)

I have a copy of info from her marriage cert-- (1873)
her father was a James Campbell from Carrickmacross and the two witnesses were a James & Mary Campbell.
I am leaning towards them being a sibling and his wife or cousins as she was disowned by her family for marrying a Roman Catholic.

I have a great great grandmother Margaret Campbell married to John Burns living in Donaghmoyne Carrickmacross in 1879 they were actually from Killanny and he was a farmer there.
Maybe they were related but their daughter Sarah my great Grandmother was married in the Catholic Church to my Great Grandfather Peter Marron.
