Title: Hannah Grace Buttler

I am trying to find information about Hannah Grace Buttler, my ggaunt. On her marriage certifcate it states that she was born in St. Hellier Isle of Jersey. I am trying to locate her birth certificate and any information about the BUTTLER family. Father Robert, mother Ellen Duff. I wonder if Robert was in the army?
Can anyone help please?

Do you have any dates re the marriage and/or a date of birth for Hannah?

Is Buttler her married or maiden name?

Dear Stewart,
thank you for your prompt reply. Buttler is Hannah's birth name. We believe that she was born in 1862. St Hellier Isle of Jersey.

There is an entry in the index for St Helier births, 9th Oct 1861 to 30th Oct 1862, volume 18, page 39 for a Hannah Grace Butler (only one T).

No details in the index I'm afraid. You have to send for the certificate.

You have to order certificates from the Registrar and they cost £20 each.

Thank you again Stewart. Is there a birth notice then for Hannah's brother Robert Henry Garland Michel. Born 1860 or 1864. I am starting to sort the mystery. Thank you again.

I've searched St Helier and can't see a record. The nearest I can get is Henry Butler.

Henry Butler, St Helier births, 9th Oct 1861 to 30th Oct 1862, volume 18, page 43.

This is the same volume as Hannah and only 4 pages further on which makes me dubious.

Hello,
I am Hannah Grace Butlers GGgrandson. I have a copy of her marraige certificate which indicates her marraige to Abram FRASER 6 Oct 1881 in Victoria Australia. Some research from Jersey has her "born 10:15 pm 19th Feb 1862 at No. 10 Pier St. St Hellier. Father given as James BUTLER and recorded as a pensioned of soldier of the British army. His wife was Ellen DUFF. No mention of his birthplace or occupation. This is the only mention of the family in records on Jersey with no mention in Jersey census of 1861 0r 1871".
Search of 1861 census gets a James and Ellen Butler located at Winchester Barracks I dont know yet if this is Hannahs parents.

thank you. For some reason I had thought that  her father was Robert, not James? Does she  have a brother Robert? I too have her marriage certificate. Birth details are very helpful.
