Hi

Welcome to rootschat  :)

There is a birth Dec qtr 1859 Brixworth 3b 108

Death Brixworth June qtr 1862  3b 75

as per freebmd by searching Cox  - William Henry R

so there is obviously another one  ???  Do you have him on census ?

I can't see the marriage you are referring to on freebmd in 1885 Brixworth.

Thanks Rosie,

The birth in 1859 seems to match OK.

I got a bit mixed up with the name of his wife.
He married Priscilla Denton in 1889. in Northampton.
But still can`t find his death. Cannot find anything on the Census .

Hi

I think the death I gave you in 1862 is this William Henry Rose Cox. Do you have the marriage certificate for him and Priscilla Denton?

Hi

There is a birth registration for a William Henry Cox at Brixworth reg dist   3b 134

I wonder if the next child after William Henry Rose Cox having died in 1862 was named after him without the 'Rose'

if as you say the 1901 family is yours then william did not die before 1909
he is on the 1911 census in northampton with wife priscilla and children catherine, rose, john, henry
also other possible children are
priscilla born 1904
annie born 1906
edith maud born 1901
i do not know for sure if the last 3 are in the same household
but i do know they are living with a priscilla cox
would need to look at the actual image to be sure
and you have to pay for that

Hi Naomi.  :)

It is good to see all the help you are being given.

The family are as follows .

William 48, Priscilla 47, Catherine 19, Rose 18, John 16,
Henry 14, Edith Maud 10, Priscilla 7, Annie 5,
and a niece Minnie Ward 15, born Moulton.

On the links at the bottom of my replies Alan does look ups
from most of his indexes free and would more than likely
give you more than we are allowed to display here.

Hi again Naomi.

In 1928 William is noted in a Town Directory as living in Colwyn Road.

That is near the Racecourse.

On free bmd there is a death of a William Cox in Northampton in 1932.

Although his age means he would have been slightly younger
as he is buried in Billing Road and noted as being of Wantage Rd
do you think he is a possibility.

Sandy

think this is william in 1841 age out a bit though
1841
HO107/810/6/folio missing/1.
martha cox age 60. occ. lacemaker
william cox age 30. occ. mason
elizabeth cox age 25
martha cox age 15
mary ann cox age 4
living at;stocks hill street,moulton
all born in county

seems to confirm that martha is his mother
wonder if the elizabeth cox is his first wife(or could be his sister)
and that he married catherine after 1841
Title: Re: William henry rose cox
Post by: wozzle on Wednesday 18 November 09 16:56 GMT (UK)
the only marriage i can see that might be his is
name; william cox
y.o.r. 1848
qtr; oct/nov/dec
dist. northampton
vol; 15
page; 627
on the same page amongst others; catherine rose
will have a look for mary ann age 4 on 1841 will look for her baptism
if it says parents william and elizabeth then i think we can take it that william married twice and mary ann is a daughter from 1st marriage

Post by: wozzle on Wednesday 18 November 09 17:30 GMT (UK)
here is the martha cox aged 14 on 1841 census
martha cox daughter of john/martha cox baptised on the 15/2/1824 at moulton church of england
fathers occ; labourer

and also elizabeth aged 25 on 1841
elizabeth cox daughter of john/martha bapt on the 7/11/1813 at moulton church of england
so it looks like the elizabeth on the 1841 census was a sister of william and not a wife and mary ann is her child possibly

and to round it off here is williams baptism
william cox son of john/martha bapt on the 11/1/1807 at moulton church of england

Hi Naomi2, William Henry Rose Cox was my great grandfather.
He was the son of William Cox (b. c1805), believed son of John Cox and Catherine Rose, (b, c1819) daughter of William and Martha Rose. William, I believe, died in Moulton and was buried at Moulton on 12th September 1872. William and Catherine were married at Great Billing on 8th October 1848.
Their son William Henry Rose Cox was born around 1864 believed at Moulton.
He married Priscilla Denton at St. Peters Church, Weston Favell (now a suburb of Northampton) on 3rd April 1889. Priscilla was the daughter of George Denton.
Their first child, William George Rose Cox was born in Northampton on 14th March 1890. He died on 19th October 1974 at home in Northampton.
I too have been unable to confirm the death of William Henry Rose but will continue in my research until i can.
I should also mention that William H.R. was my great grandfather and William G.R. my grandfather.
Kind regards
Michael B. Cox

Hello Mick
I am new to this web page, only came across it by chance a day or two ago. Was looking at my Grandfathers listing on the census for 1911. Was able to find Great Grandfathers name. William Henry Rose Cox. My Father was Victor Cox born 1919. the son on Henry Cox born 1897. It would seem we share the same Great Grandfather.  I knew I had found the right family when I read others peoples entries. Someone mentioned Colwyn Road. I visited as a child in the 60"s & 70's. The last time was in 1978. I always knew the House  as Auntie Edie's house, that making her my Great Auntie. Many fond memories. Not been in touch with family members for many years now, as I have been living in New Zealand for years & years now. I'm hoping you will be able to help add to my family tree. This is all new & very interesting for me as I didn't even know what my Grandfathers name was till a few days ago. He died in 1947? Long before I was born, & never talked about.
Hopefully a new relative down under.

Hi Julie, how marvelous to hear from you. as you say, we are indeed from the same stock. My grandfather was William George Rose Cox, Victors brother.
I've posted the tree, as far as I've got, on line. I've called it Northamptoncoxes.
If you would like to access it let me know. i will need your email address.
I've got some pictures of a few of the Cox's including one of your father and some of our grand and great grand parents. I don't think you can add pictures on this site so if you  would like to see them, I can email them to you.
I have no information about your side of the family (doesn't that sound horrible, YOUR side of the family) but I'm sure you know what I mean.
Julie my email address is  (*)  and if you go to www.thecoxes.f9.co.uk you will find a photo of myself and my wife Jan.
As I say, it's lovely to hear from you and if there is anything you want to know about the family you only have to ask and if I can answer you I will. If I can't, I'll try to get the answers for you.
Take care and look after yourself and we'll keep in touch,
lots of love
Michael (Mick)
