Does anyone have a connection with the MUNTs of Harpenden, Wheathamstead and nearby? My grandmother was Ellen MUNT who married William BARKER in Wheathamstead on 2 Oct 1878 and Ellen's grandparents were William MUNT and Sarah Starkins who were married in Harpenden on 4 Nov 1799. Earlier than this I cannot go.

I'm not sure if this is any use,not know Hertfordshire. ???

I wouldn't assume that record from FreeREG is connected - Hunsdon is about as far away as you can get from Harpenden without leaving Hertfordshire. FreeREG also has very limited coverage of Hertfordshire at present, with only one small set of non-conformist registers in the Harpenden / Wheathampstead area.

I found these burials.
bur. 4 Mar 1835, St Nicholas, Harpenden, William Munt, aged 58 [1776/7]
bur. 2 Aug 1846, St Helen, Wheathampstead, William Munt, aged 82 [1763/4]
bur. 29 Jan 1823, St Nicholas, Harpenden, Sarah Munt, aged 40 [1782/3]
which may at least give some pointers on approximate date of birth.

Don't know if this helps but you can find Hertfordshire Munt marriages on the HALs site. The database used to be called the Allen Index but it's changed its name. I'm sure another Rootschatter can give you details. The database purports to give all Hertfordshire marriages up to 1812.
Good hunting
