This is a photo I was sent of my GGG-Grandparents. Can anyone put a date on it? Thanks.
P.S. Love the website.

with the broad stripe down the trouser leg and the general overal appearence of both sitters I would suggest a date period of between 1865 and 1870.

Hello & welcome to the Resto board.
Older people can often be difficult to date as they tended to wear what they felt comfortable in rather than what was fashionable, however the dress style of both is early-mid 1860's.The pose, sitting side by side is a style we often see on Ambrotypes (on glass) of the 1850's but as this doesn't appear to be one of those (unless you know otherwise) I would suggest early-mid 1860's.If you can tell us more it would help.

Hello, thanks for the help.
The only other detail I can provide is a date of birth for him, between 1798 and 1805. A mid- 1860's date for the photo would mean he was in his sixties when it was taken. I could easily agree he's at least that....

No idea on dates, but heres my effort on restoration.

I'm sure he will be thrilled Terry .. You've certainly done your share of restores since you came on the board .. Some days it's hard to keep up with the number of people wanting a photo fixed .. I think I must miss loads of them ...... Speed was never a virtue associated with me .. I remember vividly once being told by a tutor that one day I would realise the importance of sometimes having to sacrifice accuracy for speed .. ::)
The only time I tried that I was booked by a traffic cop !! ;D And Now I'm not even often accurate ! ;) ;D
