Title: Croshaws 1930's/40's
Post by: bearfoot on Tuesday 17 November 09 13:35 GMT (UK)
Hi there
I was wondering if anyone remembers the Crowshaws in the Atherstone and Coventry areas in the 30's and 40's.
In particluar my grandad Edwin "Harry" Croshaw born Sheepy Magna. Father George and mother Elizabeth "Ruth". He also had sisters Ethel, Amy and Ivy.
Ethel married a Geoffrey Croshaw her 1st cousin. It is this part of the family I am also looking for. I think Geoffrey may have been married before and had a son Arthur who I think was in the Coventry area. I'm interested in him too I think he married a Slater and possibly had a son Michael.
Any information would be useful
Thanks

Hi Bearfoot

I have researched my Croshaw family, whilst I don't remember them, (I am a bit younger  :) )and I was not born in England, however I have an Aunt who may remember something. I think we are probably related.

I have a bit of information on this branch of the Croshaw's, not a lot more than you have, but here goes.

George and Elizabeth Ruth Burrows had four children according to the 1911 census

Agnes May b c1902 d c1991
Ethel Daisy b c1903 d c1984
Edwin Harry b c1907 d c1978
Amy Rose b 1911

Ethel did marry Geoffrey Croshaw who was her cousin in 1939, this was his second marriage. Geoffrey was my Grandfather's brother. Geoffrey was married to Fanny Gregson  - 1917 and they had three children

Arthur b c1918
Violet b c1920
Sheila b c1929

I have found a marriage for Arthur to a G B Slater, so far I haven't found any offspring.

I hope some of this may be useful and look forward to your comments.
