I would like to hear from anyone researching the McKenna family in Ireland
Michael McKenna, possibly born in Monaghan Ireland married Sarah McAvicar. Michael died before 1859. His son Patrick was born c 1824 and died in Kilwinning Scotland in 1859. Patrick's first 2 children Michael October 1843 and Margaret October 1844 were born in Ireland possibly at Currayberg Monaghan. Another son Patrick was born in Lanarkshire Scotland about 1855. Old Patrick married Bridget Conroy on 24 January 1843 in Currayberberg Ireland. It seems likely two older sons were also born in Ireland and possibly died there. Old Patrick died as the result of an accident, probably at the ironworks, at Kilwinning Ayrshire on 10 september 1859.
I would love to hear from anyone else who is researching this family. I have plenty of information about the later decedents but not a lot from the Irish part.
Thanks

Sorry, misunderstood the purpose of the thread - thought it was just general McKenna queries.

I am also researching the family name of McKenna. My grandfather, Michael J. McKenna was born in Monaghan (?) Ireland in December 1854. He married in Ireland, Ellen Leonard in 1874/5 just before embarking for America on the Ship Republic. They arrived in New York on 17 March 1875. I have a lot of history of their lives in America, but I need to find the families of Michael and Ellen in Ireland. Thank you for your attention to this request.

Thank you very much for your considerate reply to my McKenna query.
People studying the genealogy of their families tend to be very generous in helping other people.
Your posting did not connect with my McKenna family. But we have to keep trying.
My best wishes to you in your research.

Thanks to all who posted replies re the McKenna family in Monaghan in Ireland. It appears there were a lot of McKenna in that part of Ireland and so far I have not been able to find a direct link and the necessary parish registers have been lost. One day hopefully something will come up.
Thanks again

Lynf, you may already have this but the twins born to Michael McKenna/Bridget Conroy(Connery) John & Francis were born on 11 October 1857 Stevenson,Ayr. On birth cert it references Ardeer Ironworks. As to Michael's birth, there are no entries in church records that match for parents.
