Title: Roderick McKenzie & Mary Macdonald

Hi there

I'm new to the list and would appreciate any help.  If searching for Roderick McKenzie who married Mary MacDonald in Lochbroom in Feb. 1823.  They had a son, Finlay born in 1825 in Contin.  I have not been able to go any further in my search. Thanks

can't see anything on the IGI that matches what you have
however there is a marriage for roderick mckenzie and anne mackenzie
27th feb. 1823 lochbroom ross & cromarty
also a birth for finlay mckenzie 17th feb 1825 contin ross and cromarty
parents rodk. mckenzie and ann mackenzie
could this be who you are looking for ?

I've also come across Roderick and Ann.  The only reason I hesitate to make that connection is that on their son Finlay's death registration it lists Mary MacDonald as his mother.

After your post I bought some time on Scotland's People and came across the info on Ann and Roderick.  I believe these are Finlays parents.  I had come across this info a few years ago but I wasn't there in my search so didn't make the connection.  Thanks for bringing it to my attention again.  I wonder if Ann could have been Mary Ann.  Or if Ann died and Roderick remarried to Mary.  Oh the mystery of it all.

I have a copy of that page, both are noted as resident at Achendrean, Strathkainaird, given forename patterns I'd guess Roderick or Ann descended from the MacKenzie of Langwell family.
