Hello
I am after Monument Inscription lookup/information for the following two ancestors
Guiseley Burials 1820-1829
John TOWNSEND
Died: 10 November 1824, Age 50, Esholt
Guisley Burials 1830-1839
Christiana RAWNSLEY
Died: 8 January 1837, Age 58, Esholt
Calverley Lad - from a previous post suggested St Pauls Church in Esholt and was very kind and went to Saint Pauls Church in Esholt - with no luck :(
However, I did a little more reseach about Saint Pauls Church in Esholt and it seems it was built in 1839.
More info at this link http://www.guiseleyparish.org.uk/churches.htm
As John Townsend died in 1824 and Christiana Rawnsley died in 1837
I suppose they could not have been buried in the St Pauls Church cemetery in Esholt afterall.
Would they have been buried at St Oswald's in Guiseley instead ???
Help please?
Thank you.
:)

Had a lok in the Wharfedale Family History Group booklet Guiseley St. Oswald's Memorial Inscriptions. No Townsend entries. A few Rawnsley entries but no Christiana.

Hello
I have since been told they are both buried at St Oswalds however there are no headstones or monument's for them, unfortunately.
Thanks again for taking the time to do a lookup. Much appreciated.

To add to what has been previously said.
I believe the grave markers have long since gone.
The local council did a tidy up some years ago (church info).
The information that AussieLady required was the actual existance of a memorial at Guiseley.
Yes they are both buried at Guiseley, but where in graveyard nobody knows. (Other than a No on a death register).
Regards Brian

Have a look at www.findagrave.com. I have put some on from St. Oswalds in Guiseley and also some names for St. Pauls Esholt.
