Title: Charles Rea
Post by: flaraysun on Sunday 08 November 09 01:21 GMT (UK)
I am looking for any information regarding Charles Rea, listed in Griffiths Valuation of the 1860's living in the Townland of Ballydonnelly, near Rasharkin.  He had at least one son, my great grandfather, Robert Rea who was born around 1845.  There were 5 Rea's that are shown in this townland - Ballydonnelly, I do not know how they were related but I would suppose they are but would like to find someway of identification to link them.

Robert Rea, mentioned above, moved with his family to the U.S. in 1887.  I have not been able to find what ever came of Charles Rea or his wife Anna.  I cannot find any record of his death or mention of him in any record of will's.

Appreciate anything anyone from this area can do to help.

There's a Rea family in Ballydonnelly townland in 1911 census-

Reas still live in the area although I'm not sure what townland they are in or if they are connected to your family.

Hello Aghadowey,

Thank you for this information, appreciate it.

Do you know of any place I could locate a death record for Charles Rea?  I would think he was born around 1820, I have no idea when he may have died.  His son, Robert, left Ireland in 1887 so it may be possible that Charles died before he left.

According to what I have found, Robert Rea and his family attended the Rasharkin Presbyterian Church and had most of their children baptized there.

I have searched as many resources as I know exist but still have not found Charles or Anna his wife.

Also, I am trying to figure out a way to identify the relationship of the 5 Rea families that lived in the farming community of Ballydonnelly, Rasharkin Parish.  I don't know any resource document that can provide me with that sort of data.  Appreciate any help you could offer for the identification of these persons.

Thanks again.

Ken
