Hi everybody, this one is from another thread. Just to save time, because it's the middle of the night for most Rootschatters, I'm posting it myself.
I think it's a photo of a photo, but can it be tidied? It seems to be early 1860s, and a lovely photo of a sweet little girl.
Cheers,
China

Hi Jan
I'm having probs with my monitor at the moment (trying out various adjustments), so I'm not sure how this is looking.
I'll tackle a colour version when I'm sure this thing is behaving ::) ::) ::)
Gadget
-
Hi Gadget
She looks lovely - I like the graininess. And doesn't she look fed-up about being photographed ;D Wonder how long she had to stand there.
Many thanks
Jan ;)

Does anyone else have problems working out what the little girl is holding in her hand?
I first thought that it was just her hand with a stick of some kind but it's far too large for a child's hand and on closer inspection it looks like some doll or other object. Would Jim or China or prue know?
I've enlarge the portion and burnt in obvious finger, etc, marks.
Gadget
(Sorry Jan - I didn't see you there - another of those no red warnings :-\ )
-
I had thought it was part of the doll she was holding but seeing that blow up .... ???
Jan
-
On looking closer, i think it was the doll's arm and the 'bunch of fives' were the doll's sleeve ;D ;D ;D
Can't decide on her dress colour though, so I've done a couple of thumbnails - which do you think ( or I can make it any other colour). Caz and I both have this problem when it comes to choosing the colours. There are so many ;D ;D ;D
Gadget
-
Gadget they both look gorgeous but if I have to plump for one I think the red.
Thank you so much
Jan ;)
And as I've said before I do hope juben comes along at some point to see all the amazing work.
-
Hi Jan
I've played with this one.
It's a bit bright so i may taske it down a bit!
Gadget
-
Slightly softer ::)
-
They are both lovely Gadget, rather like the bright one though ;D
Thank you for all your time and effort
Jan ;)
Am off to Ancestry to see if anyone has this young lady direct line
-
I'm glad you didn't ask me to pick between the two Gadget, would have taken me a day to decide ;D However, I think Janan made the right choice, she looks wonderful in the red.
Caz
-
I had even more difficult decisions with Penny's girls ;D
-
Sorry it's so late ... lost the thread as I forgot it was filed under china's name! :-X :-[ ;D doh
Poll
-
Delightful Poll :D Thank you so much.
Sadly I haven't found anyone online claiming her as their ancestor. A pity as everyone has worked so hard on young Anne Sophia Underwood born Luton Oct qtr 1860. But maybe one day someone will search for her and they will be in for a treat ;D

I have only just looked at all this work - it is absolutely phenomenal! I can only imagine what can be done with a proper scan. Well done and many thanks to all involved - what a passion!
Cheers, Juben :D
