Hi Ding,
Jane died Willunga 18 Sep 1860 aged 1 day res Willunga Dist Wil 12 235
No sign of a death for Eliza
Cheers Kris :)

Hi, Thank you for Jane, I had not heard of her before. Maybe Eliza died after they moved to Victoria. She is listed as dead on her father Thomas' death cert. in 1887. district of Kaniva Vic.
The information from the South Australians posted by Kris is interesting as it has some wrong information.
Joseph's wife was Sarah Lyon from Glentworth Linc. as seen in the 1851 Blyborough Linc census.I have noticed that a lot of people are confused with the Lyons/Marshall thing on Ancestry.com trees.
Cheers Ding

Hi Ding,
These entries from BISA and South Australians are in part submitted so there are errors, but generally a very handy resource. I have the submitters details from South Australians 1836-1885. Will PM you.
Cheers Kris :)

This request is four years old. If you need the Victorian follow-up details ( including Mary Ann Gurnell's death ), they are available.
Not sure if you are Australian or British.

Hi, Ding, My name is John Bell, I am a descendant of Thomas and Mary Anne Bells son John Born 1856, from what I know John Married an Emily and had 4 kids Ethel Bell-Garside-Meadowcroft (married twice, no kids), Edward John Bell(my Grandfather), Norman Lewis Bell(Died WW1) and Myrtle Bell?. wondering if you had any information on Myrtle? I heard she married but cant find her married name.
P.S. I respect how much work you have done piecing together Bell family history further back, interesting.
Regards, John Bell.

John,
Just in case Ding cannot help you, I have been advised of this request and provide the following.
"BELL","Norman Louis","B","M","Jno","Emilly BERTILL",,"","NATK","",1897,"21522"
Norman Louis Bell was born to Jno Bell and his wife, Emily nee Bertill at Natimuk in 1897, late in that year.
Cannot find a marriage for John Bell or Emily Bertill in either Victoria or South Australia.
Bell Norman Lewis : SERN 6957 : POB Adelaide SA : POE Cootamundra NSW : NOK M Bell Emily
This is Norman's enlistment, made at Cootamundra in NSW.
His mother was living in Union St, Richmond in 1916, moved to 305 Burnley Street and then, apparently, to Gore Street in Hawthorn, while the record was current. ( I guess you may know this)
Sorry, I have had to modify my information. This sounds more logical also.
"BELL","Jno Edwd","B","M","Jno","Emily NICHOLSON",,"","KANIVA","",1889,"32336"
"BELL","Mertle Ivy","B","F","Jno","Emily NICHOLSON",,"","MT ARAPILES","",1894,"5608"
If you would like to discuss this further, I should save space ( contact (*) ) ===== Ron

Hi John, glad to make your acquaintance.
On checking back in my records I have John Bell marrying Sarah Boneham in 1876. I have 2 children for them......Agnes Jane 1877 & Emily Ida 1881. Sarah died in 1881.
I then have John marrying Emily Nicholson in 1887. I have only 2 children for them.....Edward John and Emily Ethel 1888. I have Edward John bell marrying Jean Edna Rudd and having a daughter Heather.
The Bonehams and Nicholsons were closely related to John's family. Johns younger sister Mary Jane married William Boneham (the brother of Sarah) and his youngest sister, Sarah Jane married married Edward Nicholson. We have Bonehams living near us who are descendants of these marriages.
Hope this is of some help.
On the subject of the ancestors of Thomas and Mary Ann (Gurnell) we visited Lincolnshire a couple of years ago and have copies of various marriage and baptism cert. It frustrates me a bit that some family trees on Ancestry.com are wrong and are just being coppied without checking the accuracy.
Regards Ding

Thank you for the reply Ding, and that has cleared up a couple of things for us, we had a marriage cert for John Edward and Emily Nicholson which stated John as being previously married but we didn't have any names. You wouldn't have John Edward Bells date and place death Ding?
Ok with John and Emily's children there was definitely Edward John Bell, Ethel Emily Bell (her name is definitely that way around, Ethel Emily Bell), and Norman Lewis Bell, I can confirm Norman through his war records stating Emily as his Mother and John as his Father, I'll keep looking for Myrtle. Norm was Killed in Ypres Belgium WW1, Edward got shot up pretty bad in the 2nd battle of Bullecourt WW1 and was sent back home, he also served in WW2 just in Holsworthy training camp.
Yes Edward John Bell married Jean Edna Rudd, I have them living in Newtown NSW in the early 30's before settling in Helensburgh in 1936, Jean had a daughter Barbara from a previous marriage or affair, they went on to have 4 more children Norm, Heather, John Stanley(my Father) and Maurine. Edward served in both World Wars and Died in 1950, Jean died in November 11 1965 and both are in Woronora cemetery Sutherland.
Ok I sought of get the picture with the Boneham and Nicholson thing, definitely a knot in that branch of the family tree, interesting.
I think I'm getting what your saying Ding about wrong information, bum steers and what not, would be very interested in getting a better picture of the way back stuff.
Regards, John Bell.
