Hi...can anyone help with the following:
Bridget Kelly, born 1884 in Tinahely, County Wicklow, to John and Mary Kelly.
In 1910 she married Edward Gibney, born Aughrim County Wicklow c. 1883.
In 1911 they were lodging in Capel Street, Dublin.
They may have had a contracting business in later years supplying stone to Dublin Corporation.
I have the census information for Bridgets birth family in Wicklow.
Bridget Gibney died 30/8/1958.
Does anyone have any further information on the Gibneys?
Thanks,
Tom.

Hi Penderiki,
I lived in Innisfallen Parade N.C.Rd. which wouldn't be too far from Caple Street, they were houses built circa 1880s. I was born 1942 but growing up as a child i remember Mrs Gibney who lived nearby (across the road) If my memory served me right she ran a little dairy shop (Milk, Eggs, Cheese etc.) I have looked up the electoral records and the number of the house would confirm it was a shop. I left the area for a number of years in 1959 and again I believe she had died sometime around then. Her Name was Brigid Gibney. This info is only from memory and the electoral records of 1939 -1940 but hopefully it may start you off or jog somebodys thoughts. Good Luck
Regards
Tony

Tony,
Thank you for the info....every little clue helps sometimes.
Best wishes,
Tom.

I don't think I've mentioned anyone living ~~~just in case I'm modifying this file

Hi, James, My name is Tony Carey, I lived with my Grandmother in no. 37 Innisfallen Parade. Her name was "Guthrie" I was sometimes called Tony Guthrie. 37 is on the opposite side to Gibneys and about 5 doors towards the top. Joe McCann lived opposite "Gibney's" That was mid 40s. My Mother and father later bought a house No.60 opposite my Grandmothers. I'm long gone from there but my Son still owns 37.

I don't think I mentioned anyone still living ~~~but just in case I'm modifying

Hi Penderiki! Care to share your name? I lived in 37 Innisfallen from about 1944-45 until 1952. I remember Mrs. Gibneys dairy, milk & Eggs. The shop changed hands before I left to a Mrs. or Ms. "Hogg" or something like that. Ellises's shop was on the other corner. Later became Slattery's. Down from Gibney's you had familie's, I can't remember them all, but there was Kenny's, Lawless's. Accross the road, Mrs. Culhane and her son John (hope I spelled that right). The Bree's, Then Scarlett's I think, Mick Coyne, Eileen Burke & McCann's on the high step. Skip a few then Paddy Kenny, Mrs Guthrie, skip1 then Bartley's. Top John Felming and the shop.Accross the road Traynor's, Down at Lynche's shop, 72 Condon's, 75 McKeever's. Further down on high steps, Barkers or Bakers (lost a young son about 1950 in a bike accident.) On the other, Mrs. O'Hanlon (Shay the Cyclist) Butler's then Linsey's. Opposite Valentia Parade. There were Murray's There were also Mr.Mrs. Gunning Finally from my memory a family the lived in one of the two story houses at the bottom of the street ie. 1 or now live in no 12 formally Mrs. Babbs Thompson. I hope this misc. load of information, again from my memory only, can trigger off some more. Until I got a post from James Mulvey yesterday I would not have thought of 10% of this. I returned to Innisfallen in 1974 and lived there until 2002. A lot had changed at that time, but a lot was still there. Regarding Gibney's shop, every corner had a shop most of them "Off Licences" as we know them to-day.

Hi - I have recently been given a picture of Bridget Gibney outside her dairy shop. I am trying to link her to my Grandfather William Gibney, who was supposed to be a cousin. I can find a death for Miss Bridget Gibney 1965 in Manchester (late of Innisfallen Parade). My Gibneys are originally from Platten, Co Meath, tying in with Sheephouse, and Donore. There was a mention of M Gibney for Innisfallen parade a milk provider in 1931, If anyone has any information on these Gibneys please get in touch.

Register of electors has Michael Gibney and Bridget at 64 Innisfallen Parade 1939 to 1945
http://databases.dublincity.ie/electoral/search.php
edited to add
Bridget Gibney reappears there in 1949 so Michael possibly died 1945 to 49

Michael Gibney appears to be buried in Glasnevin 1946 age 65 when entering Innisfallen as part of address

Probate 13 Nov 1946
Michael J Gibney died 9th Oct 1946 ,63 Innisfallen Parade
Granted to Bridget Gibney, spinster (so his daughter ?)

back to register of electors
In 1939 Bridget would have to be over 21 to appear on register born before 1918 or she could even be his sister born much earlier so the age you may have for the 1965 death is vital to determine this.

had another fiddle on the Glasnevin index and found an Anne Gibney died 1931 age 53 when entering Innisfallen as part of address which leads to this possible marriage
Michael Gibney to Annie Quinn ,Dublin North ,1916.

The only thing with all of this information dathai is that the couple that lived on Capel Street
were Bridget KELLY of Tinahely who married Edward GIBNEY of Aughrim; both of Co. Wicklow
according to the 1911 census (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai000085750/)
Although there is no obvious Edward GIBNEY in Wicklow, or born in Wicklow, on the 1901 census
The closest to this family seems to be this Edward and his family in Dublin (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Pembroke_West/Gerald_Street__South_Lots_/1287542/) and this is his baptism in 1885 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/ea7bdb0001572)
Civil Reference for marriage of Edward and Bridget (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FY6Y-747)is Shillelagh 1910 Q4 V2 P812
The MEATH connection would have to be made by checking the parents and further connections
William GIBNEY m Mary MADDEN Drogheda 1900 Q1 V2 P441
dau Margaret Mary b Drogheda 1901 Q1 V2 p399

Peter Clarke died Dec 1911

the Anne Gibney that died 1931 age 53 could be Michael's sister.

Donore Hill Graveyard
the last Gibney's on this are most likely Michael John Gibney's parents
http://slanehistoryandarchaeologysociety.com/index.php/headstone-inscriptions/28-donore-hill
also note the Greene family for reference.
-
If this is her and she's a Miss she's most likely Michael's sister

possible birth

WOW!!!!
Cant take all this in right now. Greene is Connected. Will go through all the help. Wow. Thanks

William Gibney & Mary Madden - are mine 100%.

Bridget would fit in with Patrick Gibney & Jane Greene being her parents - going that she was born c1885. I have the records for Patrick 1874, Mary Josephine 1876, Anne 1878, Michael J 1880 and then I have Andrew 1890. Such a large gap between Michael J and Andrew!!!. Most of my Gibneys are buried in Donore Hill as are members of the Greene family and many many more connections too. It was a GGrandson of a Greene that gave me the picture of Bridget. She is standing between a window and a drain pipe. The detail on the red brick house window is the same as the picture. Taken c1935 (which fits close with the electoral records). Irish Press 1931-1995, 29.09.1965, page 2. Gives her death as 28.09.65, her Manchester address too. At the end of her obit. it says Miss Bridget Gibney; deeply regretted by her sister, nephew and nieces and relatives. Funeral at Manchester. Michael would have been named after his Grandfather also Michael (Who was married twice - 1st to an Anne Finnegan - 3 children, then to a Jane Mooney 4 - children)

Annie Gibney died 2/6/1931 spinster - left Money to Michael J Gibney Diary man
Michael J Gibney died 9/10/1946 - Left Money to Bridget Gibney Spinster.
Both from 63 Innisfallen parade. Siblings!!!
-
England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966 forAnnie Gibney. Address as 63 Innisfallen Parade, but died in Farnham House, Finglas 2/6/1931

Annie Gibney died 2/6/1931 spinster - left Money to Michael J Gibney Diary man
Michael J Gibney died 9/10/1946 - Left Money to Bridget Gibney Spinster.
Both from 63 Innisfallen parade. Siblings!!!
Have you seen the actual Wills or are you just going by the entries in the probate books? If the latter-
Michael John Gibney was granted permission (1931) to administer Annie Gibney's estate but may or may not have been left anything.
Bridget Gibney was granted permission (1946) to administer Michael Gibney's estate but may or may not have been left anything.

I stand corrected :) Thanks.

It's a common mistake ;)

Bridget Gibney was my great aunt. She is buried in Southern Cemetry Manchester. Michael was her older brother.
They originated from near Drogheda in Co.Meath, but there were a few Gibneys. Father Patrick Gibney, stonecutter and there is a family history that they were involved with the construction of St. Peter's church in Drogheda.
Bridget also had sisters Catherine, who married in the UK. Also Jane who married a Patrick McGinn and lived in Cheeverstown off the Naas Road Dublin and not Templeogue where the care home moved to. Jane Gibney became McGinn funnily enough had a dairy in Cheeverstown.
The history goes back to Newtown Platten in Meath which is only a few miles from Drogheda. I have screenshots of birth of them if needed. I also have photos of Jane and Bridget. Bridget was an Aunt of my Aunt Patsy. Patricia Stubbings who married John Michael O'Toole. When they went to live in Manchester they took old Auntie Bridge with them and we lived with my great Aunt Jane in Cheeverstown

Hi I am the one chasing Bridget. As I have a family picture of her out side a dairy shop in Dublin.
I am a Gibney, Great Grandparents are Gibneys from Newtown Platten. I was in bed but when the phone when off... here I am. How can I get copies of those records you have?
