Sarah Homan, born about 1804, married John Batterton in 1833 in Enniscorthy, Ireland. She died 4 September 1872 in Bridgetown, Wexford, Ireland. My mother-in-law says she was born in Bath because "Aunt Susie said so." However when I search census records there, I find no Homans. I do however find a lot of Homans in the Crewkerne area. I have no definite parents for Sarah except a possible birth date for a father of around 1778 but I don't know how reliable this information is. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

There is a Sarah baptised in 1804 to Job and Sarah
Cheers Kris :)

How can I make the connection between these two? I have seen this listing before but I don't know how to make sure that this is the same Sarah Homan.

Hi Janice,
It can be near on impossible to be 100% sure you have the correct person in these times of pre census and pre civil registration. Often the best we can hope for is a "most likely"
I don't know anything about Irish parish records - does the marriage or the death help at all with parentage?
Best bet is to try to track the family you feel is Sarah's.
Look for things such as -
Is there a burial or a marriage for Sarah around Crewkerne which may tell you this is not the correct person.
Did the family remain around Crewkerne (Do any of them also appear in Ireland, she is quite young at marriage)
Did her father leave a will
Were these family names used in Sarah's children as a possible clue
Cheers Kris :)

All excellent suggestions. I will check them out and let you know. Her marriage record, which I have, unfortunately leaves no clues but the others may. Will post later. Thanks for your suggestions.
