looking for Alfred Henry Gillingham age abt. 11 born in India. Father Robert Gillingham a Colour Sergeant age unknown. If father was away in the army he may not be on census!
Getting a bit lost due to the birth in India means I cannot trace him!!!!

There is another request for this chap in 1891 - found him with wife.
Birthplace 'abroad' so I think there is a good chance he wasn't in the country in 1881 :)
Mind you, on second look that entry does look promising - perhaps he said Ireland instead of India - he certainly wasn't giving birthplace in 1891!

Can't see a corresponding Alfred born Ireland in 1891.
I don't think he wanted anyone to know where he was born! ;)

Thanks everyone for you suggestions and offers of help. Alfred Henry Gillingham was born in Trimulgherry India in 1868. Info is from Births Regimental Index E-G 1761-1924 1136 AB-91. It states 19th Regiment Vol 970 Page39. His father at Alfred's marriage Nov 1890, is given as Robert Gillingham (Colour Sergeant - deceased). So now it is just a matter of searching the Regimental data for a 10th Regiment could be "of Foot" or "Hussars". Easy Peasy I don't think.
