Title: Stonemason error?
Post by: Vasquez109 on Saturday 31 October 09 23:56 GMT (UK)
Does this look like a stonemason made a bit of a balls up on this headstone and has patched it up and had another go?

Hi there

Too right it does, but I expect when that stone was erected you could hardly see the joins - but wear & tear and the Weather now make it obvious for everyone to see.

I have come across many similar stones which would have been very costly to scrap and start again - I wonder if the Stonemason gave them a discount?

I've seen them with letters missed out and added above the line, example:

Oh well doesn't work too well on here but you know what I mean.

Would be interesting to see a Victorian version of rogue traders! Hidden wax cylinder recorders recording the cowboys as they work!  ;D
