I have a real conundrum. My dad, Thomas Pugh, b 1895. Falkirk. Served in WW1. Severely injured. Married Agnes Steel Liddle in 1917. They had 2 girls...Agnes and Margaret, in 1918 and 1919. The story now goes, she walked out , he puts girls in a home....Quarriers at bridge of weir. This is accepted due to documentation. It was said that (Agnes sr) was fond of the stage and followed that.In 1924/5 he went on start a relationship with another woman and my mum was employed to nurse this woman and her 2 kids as she was dying from breast cancer. after the death my mum stayed on, eventually getting with my dad and they got married in 1953 after a declaration of Agnes's supposed death. We all followed on at 2 yearly intervals. I only found out about the first 2 girls last month.
I was gobsmacked and sad. However they both went on to have good and happy lives. My dad had 5 nurses and 5 soldiers. as children. However....Agnes seems to have disappeared. Her grandaughter suggested to me that she may have changed her name....plus other careers that I won't mention. I've tried every avenue, as have her family.....any thoughts. Thanks.

I'm replying to myself here, the girls were put in a home and adopted 1920-21.

I have learned that the 2 girls went on to have happy and productive lives. My dad's history I now of course know. The big mystery is Agnes Steel Liddle. Was it easy to disappear without trace in the 20's. Thank you for the help I have received by pm. :-*

I had to hop on and say hello as you are replying to yourself.
It is a well know side effect of Family History.
Speaking to yourself or in your case typing to yourself.
Good luck,
