Title: William Dunbar
Post by: penderiki on Friday 30 October 09 19:51 GMT (UK)
Hi....I am searching for any information on the ancestors of a William Dunbar....probably born in Wexford around Ferns..He was born c. 1865 and died in 1932. He married a Margaret Murphy. I have information on their children but nothing prior to them.....any help at all would be great.
Thanks,
Tom.

Would this be the same William you are looking for? (1911 Census)

Ok - I did check if there was a William in the 1901 census but there isn't one listed in the county - but not all the county is complete.

There are a number of Williams in the 1911 - you might be able to find him in another county.

There is only one William listed in what is available in 1901, he is in Mayo and aged 53 but his wife is Mary - so that too is not what you want. Sorry.

Mary.

The book Houses of Wexford mentions a property Ballylough House in Ferns.  It is stated that the house was at one time the home of James Murphy.  It then became home to the Walsh family who were living there in 1885, before being purchased by the Dunbar family.

Hi,

Thanks for those snippets....both William Dunbar and my Grandfather William Pender seem to be very elusive......still one lives in hope.

Regards,

Tom.
