The McElneas (McElnays) are listed in the Church Records of several Churches including Clontibret, Legnacreeve / Braddox, Glennan, & Donagh.  All of these Records are now available on CD

Most of the Kilmarly McElnays attended First Monaghan Prebyterian Church in Monaghan town, they married into many families incl Boyds, Grahams, Molseeds, Gillanders, Jacksons, Heasty/Hastings...they sure were a big family!

I have to go to First Mon. church soon to get records and take some photos of g/stones for someone, will see what McElnea g/stones are there as they are great for sorting out family units!

I have just discovered by Great Grandmother was a Mary Jane mcElnea (daughter of Margaret McElnea (formerly Linton) and James McElmea). Mary was born in 1904. The dwelling place of the father is listed as 'killamarley'

If anyone else has any information that can help my research further I would be grateful.

Have you searched the 1911 census for them?

45 returns here

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/results.jsp?surname=McElnea&firstname=&county=Monaghan&townland=&ded=&age=&sex=&search=Search&relationToHead=&religion=&education=&occupation=&marriageStatus=&birthplace=&language=&deafdumb=&marriageYears=&childrenBorn=&childrenLiving=

and that is only looking in Monaghan for them

You would need to e-mail me direct - if you look at some Monaghan names on the other websites - Ancestrry.com, Genealogy.com etc you will see my e-mail. I am also in touch with several McElneas abroad as per the Monaghan Exiles list of over 250 Members.

As you are only in Tynan you could take a trip to Monaghan, there are graves in Ballyalbany and the families still attend First Monaghan Presbyterian Church.

The census returns will get you a good few family units, parents, children etc.
