My grandfather served in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and I have found it very difficult to get much information on individuals in the regiment.
I have checked MICs and service records. I have transcribed War Diaries, I have read books and battalion histories. I have even started a web site of my own
So seeing how the thread that had been started on the Munsters, I thought I would start one on the Dubs and invited anyone with questions about individuals in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers to post in this thread

I have an interest in Dublin Fusiliers also. There are some books written on same and a website devoted to them.
www.greatwar.ie/assoc.
There is also a military historian, name of Conor Dodd and his father who are doing huge amount of research into these men

That link to the Royal Dublin Fusiliers Association needs to be
http://www.greatwar.ie/assoc.html
Conor Dodd's web site is here
http://www.royaldublinfusiliers.com/
but unfortunately the Forum there does not work any more.

I think the forum is working again now :)

Thanks for the links. My father's eldest brother, albeit from Somerset, was an officer in the 1st Btn RDF during WW1, but I haven't been able to find much information up to now. All I know is his service number and rank. No idea of his service record or movements. I've joined the RDF forum in anticipation!
Thanks again,
Pilly

Can you post his name and service no.
The fact that he has a service number means that he joined in the ranks as a Private, and was later commissioned.

Some information on where the various battalions of the RDF served

You may need to backtrac to Brogade or Division level for further details of battles etc.
