Hi, I'm trying to find any info about my gg-grandfather who arrived into Port Adelaide on the ship Devon, on the 2nd or 4th March, 1880. His name was Norman MacKinnon, and it looks like he arrived with his wife, Margaret MacKinnon.
I wonder if there is a scanned copy of the passenger list, so I can see what other info may have been recorded on it.
Is this the correct forum to ask about his Police record, too? He joined the Police force somewhere later in 1880. Not sure what I can get copies of, and what they may show.
Thanks for any help!

Hi Legwind,
My grandfather was in the South Australian Police Force for a while. Recently my father contacted the SA Police and they were very helpful. They sent him all the information they had on Grandpa, so I would contact them.
For the shipping list I would try here http://www.saghs.org.au/tools.htm
The Devon did come in on 4.3.1880.
Regards
Alison

Hi Legwind
Depends on where your gg-grandfather served in the Police Force in SA as to how much information they might have on him. Some officers there is a lot of information, others very little. The SA Police Historical Society Historian is Alan Peters, he's a lovely man and very knowledgeable. Just remember to give them a bit of time to answer as they deal with lots and lots of queries and they are all volunteers and tend to only be in at the society one day a week generally.
Cheers
Deanne
