Post by: Barney123 on Wednesday 28 October 09 22:17 GMT (UK)
My Great Grandfather was John Barnard, he married Harriet Lee in 1912. On the marriage certificate it gives John's father as Charles Barnard but there is no mothers name mentioned, can anyone help at all??

Hi,

I have a Barnard family in London  dating from 1728, it is not complete but the first name is JOHN 1728-1810 , other surnames by marriage are:are Dicksee/Cox, Burges, Abbott, Callow,Carpenter, Vincent, Cronin, Watson, Blake, Gates,

If this 75 year old tree had not surfaced we would have no information on the persons in it at all. We can find very few official records for them until the 1891 census and even the line that is recorded is not the direct Barnard line only that of the famous family that two sisters married into.

My Ann ELizabeth Barnard who married James Abbott in 1841 was where all research ended. No parents, siblings etc until we found this tree compiled by her granddaughter in the 1930's and lost until 2008.

Ann was the daughter of John 's (1728) 6th child Thomas1782 who married Sarah Gates,  Thomas's sister Ann 1779 married John Joseph Burges, their brothers Lewis 1778 and Stephen 1776 died in infancy, older brother John 1775 married Sarah Vincent in 1807 and eldest daughter Mary Louise 1773 married John Joseph Carpenter  her twin sister Sarah and youngest sister Sussannah b1787 never married.

Most of their children are listed and some spouses and decendents but many are not, and trying to find them has proven impossible. Trying to verify most of the information has proven impossible except for the Dicksee aka Cox line. What we have verified is 100% correct, so we are accepting at prsent af the rest of the inforamtion given.

regards

Robyn

Hi, i know this post is an old thread but iv only just started doing my family and have come across this.

My nan is (was R.I.P) Daisy Shepherd who married David Barnard or Davey as he was better known.

My dad is their youngest son Carl.

I can hardly find anything on the Barnard side... can't find them on any census what so ever. I think iv found Harriet Lee on the 1901 census living with her dad Bilcher (but I'm guessing its actually supposed to be Belcher) and mother Nancy, sister Lydia and brothers Levi and Noah.

Be great if someone read this and replied!
