I would appreciate 1910, 1920, and 1930 census data on George and his father William.

Please specify film series, roll, and page number for 1900. I have done a lot of searching and cannot even find them in 1900. There are too many likely George Jenkinses for succeeding years to muddle through.
Where was George born? Does 1900 really say he is 30 yrs old and born in 1873?

Hello Nick,
George Jenkins in 1900 is 26. I should wear my glasses more often. He was born in New York. His wife Nellie or Millie was born in Massachusetts.
His estimated marriage year is 1899.
Enumeration District 0040
Sheet Number 5A
Household 89
Ref Number 28
GSU Film Number 1241044
Image Number 00377
New York City, Kings, New York
All from the LDS indexing site.
Hope this is what you require.
Thanks,

Hi,
I am using Heritage Quest to search. The LDS numbers givn don't seem to make sense relative to how the census films are compiled. For instance, the Series for all of 1900 is T-623; Brooklyn is and was very large and is spread across multiple rolls depending upon which Ward in the borough was being enumerated. E.g. I know that Brooklyn is on at least 20 rolls of film in 1900.
OK, finally found it on Series: T623 Roll: 1044 Page: 24... sure would like to know why LDS doesn't use a more reasonable methodology. They are found in Ward 5 and the surname is incredibly difficult to decipher. HQ indexed as Genkins, which it does look like.
I'll get back to you later.

OK, this is very bizarre. In 1900 George was an electrician: what I would consider a "growth" trade for the time. In 1910 he is in 4th ward, Manhattan (Series: T624 Roll: 1005 Page: 235) as a Coal Wagon Driver, age 35. Nellie is shown as 30 with 3 kids only 2 living: Mary 8 and Veronica 6. Implies William (b April 1900) from prior census died. They also had 5 boarders.
Can't find father William, so perhaps died or returned to Canada (latter unlikely, I think).
1920 still in Manhattan, and Nellie has died (Series: T625 Roll: 1207 Page: 207)
George 46 Widower, a chauffeur for Water Company
Veronica 15
Magdalene 9
Do not have access to 1930. Hope this helps.
Mods:
Possible (probable) death for Nellie: Jenkins Nellie 32 y Aug 25 1912 Cert # 24961 Manhattan
(from Italian Gen. Group database) Might also try their databases for other deaths and marriages.
AHA! George Jenkins married Sheehan, Ellen Jul 3 1899 in Manhattan Cert #12359

Hi,
Thank you. I have been on the New York Genweb site and will go back to it since I now have more information. I believe William senior was naturalized.
