Hi folks - does anyone know what 'combutant registration' means.
Cannot find a birth certificate for this person but on their marriage licence it says - if I am reading it properly - for their birth registration details - combutant registation in 1830 in Paisley. Appreciate help on this.

"Combutant" appears to be a non-existent word (except as a misspelling of "combatant"), so it would be better if you scanned and posted a portion of the marriage license.

I think the word 'cobuntant' may be more than one word:
Born but not registered in the year 1813 at Killxanden, Argyleshire. xxxxx that registered in the year 1830 at Paisley.

This section is on the second page of the register from the 1855 certs that ran over the page on to the second page, with all the additional info provided for that first year of official registration in Scotland. I think there are some letters that may be missing from the start of the column which are obscured by the heavy black line on the imaging. Might be worthwhile contacting SP on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/contactus/form.aspx?issue=24 for an enhanced image to see whether the early letters are clearer (worthwhile explaining which area you are having a problem with).

I'm with Geoff on this. For the lower of the two entries there is enough of an upper loop visible to identify the first letter as a capital B.

Archivos, I think you are spot on with the repetition of Born but not Registered for the bride - as always, easier to see when someone comes up with a match :)

Hi Folks - yes that is what it does say - born but not - and here's me thinking 'combutant' is some old Scottish wording!! Silly me.

I've just reread from the begining of the thread...slowly...and I'm sorry that I didn't acknowledge you Geoff on your first post, as you say Archivos, Geoff had it from the first ;)
I'm a bit of fingers and thumbs at the moment during this period of RC maintenance work and some options being off - particularly the red warning if someone else has posted as you are about to post :'(
