Hi Darren,

Thanks for that, did you manage to look for William Sampson aged 30ish that is Samuels son?
I am really chuffed with the info you sent, narrows the hunt down by a big margin.
Cheers

I've been looking back at 1891 for William's Family, looks like a 2nd marriage going by the age of the children, struggling to find them and also struggling to find Samuel's family in 1901. I'll keep looking.

Hi Colin,

Samuel Sampson (Born 1841 in Hallow) is my 2nd Great Grandfather.  His son Alex Sampson had a Daughter Mary Agnes, who married William Hughes of Tipton, who had a son, Peter who is my dad.

Samuel's parents are William Sampson (1818) and Hannah Underwood (1816 in Worcester).
Hannah's Parents are William Underwood, a Turnpike Road Labourer, born 1786 in Shrawley
and Elizabeth Underwood, a Glover, born 1791 in Grimley.

Hope this helps.

Hi Colin.
My direct line is William Sampson born Winslow, Bromyard, who married Hannah Underwood in 1839 Hallow Worcester.
I have a large file on the Sampson/Shanson/Sanson connection if we can exchange info

I was interested to see that you are interested in the Sampson lineage.  My paternal Grandmother was Rose Hannah Sampson - Born Norton (Juxta Kemspey) Worcstershire.  She met my Grandfather -Charles Albert Barton in the 1880s -  I think because a very large new barracks was built at Norton and he was in the Royal Army Medical Corps. He hailed from hastings in Sussex originally and was a long way from home for those days.

Her children were Herbert, Ada, Flora, Albert and Charles Barton.  She married young and moved all over with CA Barton including Malta - as he was an army officer until after the First World War.  She apparently loved all the different postings.  I have only just started looking into all this and only discovered the place of her birth in the last few months.  The 'cottage' still exists in Norton although I have yet to go there.   She had other family - brothers/sisters and I note you have info on the Sampsons.

I would like to know more about the Sampsons. 'Rose'  died aged 85 in 1950 in Rugby having left her retirement home in Hove (Sussex) during the war after her husband died in 1941 and my Father (her youngest 'child') volunteered for the Second World War in 1939.   Her other offspring were all married by then with children of their own.

With thanks.    :)

Hi Standard 10,
I have a lot of info on the SAMPSON family of Hallow/ Grimley and Worcester area.
Rosannah Sampson born abt 1868 Norton, was the daughter of Samuel & Sarah SAMPSON

Samuel b abt 1841 was the son of William & Hannah Sampson (Hannah nee Underwood)
William was born Winslow, Bromyard 1819 to John & Sarah.
I have limited info on the Bartons, except for Herbert and Ada recorded on 1891 census living in Hatfield Road, Norton, near Worcester and Kempsey

Sampson's are my direct line.
Maybe we should correspond off list, I can then send a Pdf file on all I have  ::)
