In the early 1920s my father ROBERT COCKCROFT was on the Water Polo team at Hathershaw Baths.Oldham.
The last time I visited there, years ago, there was in the entrance a photo of the team with him in it.
I live in Australia and am unable to revisit, but probably the photo is no longer there!
I would love to have a copy for my Family History I am writing.
Could someone help me please?

Hi Mavis, I assume the Baths are still there and functioing.
Why not write a letter addressed to the Manager/Proprietor of the Baths and aks him about it. Include you email address as he's almost certainly on email and repling to you is easy that way.
Worth a try.
Let us know how you get on please :D

Hi Mavis,
I was just looking in the 'pools' section of OMBC's website (the local council here) and it does look like the pool is closed to the public.
"OCLL DOES NOT CURRENTLY MANAGE HATTERSHAW, PLEASE CONTACT THE SCHOOL FOR ANY INFORMATION.
This centre is located at the Hathershaw Technology College"
(OCLL is the Leasure facilities department)
I have a friend who works at the school so I will ask her if she can find out if the picture is still around anywhere, but its the half term holiday next week so she is not in work.

Hello Mavis,
My Father ( Fred Clayton) also played on the water polo team at Hathershaw at the same time as yours, they were also very good friends and I remember going to your house on Third avenue. I did have a copy of that photo but unfortunately I can't find it just yet. I can tell you that Hathershaw Baths no longer exists, it was demolished years ago and plans were put in to build a Mosque on the site.
I still live in Oldham and I will make my way round there to see what has happened to the site.
I get daily e-mails from my cousin who lives in Sydney, she married an ex rugby player out there David Bolton may be you have heard of him.
Good to hear from you, please keep in touch and if you have any other questions regarding Oldham
I will be more than welcome to help you.
Best regards and Happy New Year

Hi Mavis
Not had much joy finding that photo yet, although I'm still looking. I think it was taken when they were runners up in the Lancashire Water polo league. I have been on their web site but haven't found anything about it yet. I had a medal of the event and I've no doubt your dad did, I gave mine to my son to pass on to his, and I have asked him to find out what year it was and may be I can get more info from the papers if I know the date. My mother was called Edith which I thought your mother was also. Didn't you have a sister Marlene, what happened to her? We could keep in touch by e-mail would be easier, mine is tern@sky.com. It is a really small world isn't it. I presume by your name on here, you play a lot of Golf, not got into that yet. Lovely to hear from you.
Best regards
Ernie
