The micro film record of births in the parish of Galston is incomplete. There are 14 pages not recorded on microfilm, from January 1818 to the 9th April 1820. These pages contain information on 150 births. I have copies of the missing pages which I have been told will be re-filmed in the future, however if you are viewing a film made before 2004 these 150 births will not be shewn. If anyone would like me to look up any particular family let me know.

Thank you for the kind offer. I am looking for a James Thomson or Thompson born Galston approx 1926 maybe earlier. On his death cert. he is listed as illegitimate and there are blanks where the parents names should be. I am assuming he was baptised but have been looking for information for several years now to no avail. Perhaps you can help. Thanks, Doonayr

Sorry, I only have births between January 1818 and April 1820. 1926 will be under the statuary births which started in 1855, or was it 1856
-
I made a mistake on the date. It should read 1826 or thereabouts. Sorry!!
-
There is a George Thomson, born 11th April 1818, "lawful son of David Thomson & Sarah Cameron. Also an Alexander Thomson, "lawful son of Matthew Thomson, no mother named, born 5th November 1819. No other Thomsons shewn.
-
His name was definately James but I thank you just the same. Lots of Thomsons in that area but not the one I'm looking for Cheers.
-
Do you have any for Nisbet (any spelling) for that period?
Thanks

Hi,
Could you please look for any Patons born to a James Paton and Jean Sharp.
Many thanks.
-
Hi Karen, you are in luck, there is one such entry as follows
Paton Thomas lawful son of James Paton Collier in Galston and Jean Sharp was born 30th Nov. Babt.12 Decr. 1819
There are other Patons shewn but that is the only child shewn to that particular couple.
Happy hunting !!

Many thanks. Thomas is one I have been wanting to confirm for sometime.
Regards,
Karen

I suspect that your pages are too late for any result, but it's worth a try as I am missing a birth around that time. Can you see if there are any children born to a James Hopkins and Helen Morton.
Much appreciate the time.
Helen

James Hopkins does not appear at all. However there is another entry which may be of help to you.
Helen Morton lawfull daughter of Hugh Morton and Janet Littlejohn of Lanfine was born 12th and Baptised 13th April 1819
-
Thank you for your willingness to look up names. Probably, this is too late for your records, but it wouldn't hurt to take a peek.
I am looking for John Kennedy born 18 Dec 1824 in Galston to Marion Miller maybe Kennedy, father is John Kennedy. I am not certain that they were married.
Any Kennedys would be appreciated.
Thanks once again.

There are a lot of Nisbet burials in Loudoun & Galston, you may have better luck with the MI's. If you tell me who you are looking for, I'll see if I can help.

Sorry I've taken so long to reply. the only Kennedy mentioned is as follows
Jean, a lawful daughter to William Miller, nailer, in Galston and Jean Kennedy was born 29 August, baptised 5 September 1819.
Not much use I'm afraid

Don't know whether is any help or not but the 1831 census for Galston shows Wm Miller, Nailer living in Polwarth St, the household has a total of 5 males, 2 of them over 20 and 4 females. Not forgetting they don't need to be direct members of the family.

Hi
Could you please look up for any Milroy's in the area. My 3xgreat grandfather Robert Milroy was born about 1814 was looking for siblings etc father James Milroy mother Margaret Henderson.
Thank you
Liz
-
Sorry I can't find trace of Milroys in the Galston area. I notice there is an Alexander Milroy married to a Margaret Henderson in Stoneykirk, Wigtown and their son, Robert was born in 1812, you didn't mention where your Robert was born.
-
Sorry about that, he was born in Newmilns, Ayrshire
Thanks
Liz
-
Robert seems to have spent his life in the Dundonald area but I don't see any record of his parents in Loudoun parish. A wide search of Milroys born 5 years either side of 1814 on FREECEN only shows Robert born in Loudoun parish. I don't see any sign of a death record for his parents in the Loudoun OPR burials.

Thanks for looking for me

Thank you for posting the information regarding the parish records of Galston.
I am looking for a record of the birth of my 4th g-grandfather.
James Watson

Birth Place: Galston, Scotland
Any assistance or guidance would truly be appreciated.

Sorry the missing record of births in Galston run from January 1818 to February 1820. There are no Watsons in that period.
Try the normal LDS micro film records.
