My 7 x GGF William Gothskirk from West Linton married Isobel Leishman in Dunsyre in 1717.  They went on to have 6 sons, yet today this name seems to have disappeared.
Has anyone else come across this name in their research?

Looking at the birth/baptism records for the name GOTHSKIRK on SP parish registers, there would appear to be a few derivations.

 GOATHSKIRK/GODSKIRK/GOSKIRK (first record 1605 – Last record 1825)

The only one to appear on Statutory Birth Registration is GOSKIRK.

There was a Margaret Goskirk died at West Linton, aged 65, in 1859.    Mother's name was Burton.

				Hi Linda

Wow, that's great. I am descended from Janet b. 1721, she married William Steven in Dunsyre in 1745. There was another daughter Jennet b 1719, but guess she died when the next daughter was named Janet.
 Who are you descended from?
