Hi
I would appreciate if someone was able to access the 1901 census for North Elmham. I am looking for Alice Emma Tuck. She would be about 8 years old and possibly a servant.
She was later listed as having an illegitimate child in 1924 and her occupation was listed as housekeeper. Does anyone know which household she may have worked in?
I am also in search of her death date, it was sometime after 1950 but before 1959.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated
Thankyou
Christy Conklin :)

They were living at: County School Station Cottages, North Elmham.
In 1871 James Tuck appears to be living with his Grandparents Edmund & Mary in Burnham Overy, Norfolk.
Hope it helps,
Elaine

Thanks Jonathan
It looks like that may be her as I know her fathers name is probably James. Do you know how I could find her death. I have spoken to my Mum and she has indicated that Alice would have died somewhere between 1952 and 1956 (mostly likely towards the end of the time) As we have a letter from her just before the birth of my uncle. I am in Australia and so the resources I have access to are limited as are my research skills for England in this time frame.
Her surname at the time of death would still have been Tuck.
When is the 1911 census due out? As at this time she is most likely to have been working in the house were she was living when my grandfather was born.
Thanks again
Christy

Hello,
It will be some years until 1911 is published.
You can look for the death at www.1837online.com - it is a pay-site but not too expensive.
Good luck

Hi Jonathan
I had a look at that site and have found her death (at least I think) I have ordered it but am a bit puzzled as to how I will prove that she is my great grandmother.
She was a house keeper in Mitford when Grandpa was born (1924), where there many houses she could have worked in?
Thanks
Christy

Hi cuddle
Good that you had some luck in finding that - I guess you are referring to the death cert? The birth cert, if you haven't got it already, will provide parents details (unless illegitimate) and would be worth ordering that. You can look on the same site as before for the birth. Have you got your grandfathers birth cert? What is his name?
Let me know what happens, curious now ;)
btw, I would modify your first post to remove your email address to prevent your email from being spammed.
Regards
Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan
I have just received grandpas birth certificate (Richard Tuck) and no father is listed. I have ordered the death certificate for Alice. I am not sure if her death certificate will list any children she had, thus giving a link to my grandfather.
Thanks
:)

I have received Alice's death certificate but cannot link her to Richard. I have posted a query looking for descendants of her brother who may be able to confirm my hunch. Is there any other way I can link mother and son?
Cheers
