Hi there
The Sussex Marriage Index could give you a clue:
Sussex Marriage Index:
Location: Poynings, West Sussex, Date: 4 Aug 1827:
Groom: Thomas DYKE
Bride: Caroline PARIS,
Both of this parish, Married by Banns
witness: Wm PAGE Caroline & Phebe PARIS
Who are the witnesses - are they siblings or are they one of the parents

Hi
I tried a search on the SFHG database for his baptism and he was not baptised at Poynings, there are no Dyke baptisms there. He is not coming up for anywhere else either, possibly wherever he was baptised is either not added to the database yet or could he be a non conformist?

thanks for replies
silly question where would i look for list of non conformists?

Hi
Not a silly question at all! :) http://www.bmdregisters.co.uk/ has a lot of non conformist baptisms and you can search for free but if you want to look at a record or download it you have to buy credits unfortunately

Well this is slightly infuriating
I decided to have a look for Caroline Paris and found the following
William Paris married Charlotte Mockford on 19 December 1791 at Rottingdean, bachelor and spinster both of this parish by banns.
There were a number of Paris children baptised at around the right time to this couple in Rottingdean including Phoebe on 7 September 1806 but no Caroline.
