Title: Missing address in Springboig- COMPLETED
Post by: Bawtry on Sunday 11 October 09 09:26 BST (UK)
Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone can help me. My husband's grandfather was born in a street called Albany Gardens, Spingboig, Shettleston, Glasgow.

I can't seem to find this street on modern maps - there is an Albany Street however.

I've even looked on old maps and there is nothing called Albany Gardens but it appears on two birth certificates, one in 1905 and one in 1902 so presumably existed!

I know there has been a massive amount of redevelopment in Glasgow but unsure if there has been in this area.

Does anyone know if Albany Avenue was once known as Albany Gardens or anywhere I could find out?

Albany Gardens, Albany Avenue and Victoria Gardens from Mansion House Road to Springboig Avenue were renamed as Albany Avenue on 1st January 1900.
