This couple were living in Derbyshire in 1861 so I am not convinced the entries I gave are correct
Not sure which is the right 1841 entry here - when did they marry?
1841 - you need to check if Emma & Ellen died pre-1851 as there is no 1851 entry for this family
William Middleton 24 shoemaker
Elizabeth 20
Ellen 2
Emma 1 month

Thanks Jackie,
Family looks good match but 1861 census shows two older children John b 1844 in Tipton and Emma b 1849 in West Brom. Can't find either in 1851.

Hello Cat,
Selina Middleton 1857 to 1920 is my wife's ancestor. She (Selina, not my wife) married Robert Christopher Wilkinson in 1876 in Glanford.
However, tracing the family backwards has come to a grinding halt.
The information I have is as follows;
William Middleton b c1826 in Staffordshire, born in various towns from different census records.He was a blacksmith and I think he died in 1888.
Wife Elizabeth b c1823 in Staffordshire, died 1893
Children;
John b 1844 in Tipton
Emma b 1849 in West Bromwich
Elizabeth b 1851 Derbyshire
Mary Ann b 1853
Alma Ruth b 1855
Selina b 1859 in Hasland, Derbyshire
Matilda b 1861
Any help would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Martin.

I'll look in my files, I think someone helped me a while back with this line and told me that a Richard Middleton is William's father, and I'm sure he emailed me or had some docs that verified this, will get back to you when I've checked.
