Looking for info. on Matthew Wallas and Ann Robson. They were married June 20, 1727 Allenton (Alwinton), Nbl, England. Matthew's parents could be Matthew Wallas and Mary Simpson who were married March 18, 1706 Heddon on the Wall, Nbl, England.
Matthew and Ann had at least 9 children and one being Matthew married Elisabeth Clark on June 22, 1772 Alwinton, Nbl, England.
Any info. would be greatly appreciated as I am tryong to connect this Wallace family to the famaous William Braveheart Wallace of Scotland. Supoosebly we are descendant to his family maybe a brother or uncle somewhere.

If background is any use. The descent of William Wallace Scottish Guardian is traceable to his grandfather in Ayrshire. The family of Wallace or Wallis of Kirkhaugh and Knarsdale, now Northumberland but until the War of Independance, in the Regality of Tynedale governed by the King of Scots, claimed that his great grandfather was one of their younger sons who had taken service with his Scottish overlord. It is possible but unprovable. le Waleys would imply a landowner who had Cumbrian origins among English Scots or Normans which would fit Ayrshire equally as well as South Tynedale. The Northumbrian historian Rev. John Hodgson believed the name Wallis of his fellow historian and clergyman was from the walls of Whitley Castle Roman fort where he was born.
