Title: William Reed or Reid, Farmer from Tubber
Post by: The loafer on Saturday 03 October 09 20:22 BST (UK)
Hi

I am looking for details of a William Reed or Reid from Tubber circa 1867. He was my gt, gt, gt grandfather and I have only found out the Tubber connection recently. He had a daughter Annie who married James Hagan (Hagen) in Taughboyne in 1867.

Many Thanks

Laurence

Hi,
I have a Reed family who ended up in NY state starting in 1849. Parents were Thomas (b. 1789) and Catherine Reed (b. 1795-1800) -nine children- three were known to have come over from Ireland with them:
Thomas -b. @1825; Catherine-b. @ 1830): Simon-b. @1836. The name William runs through the family in all generations. The family started out farming in Washington County, NY, and then moved to Albany County (Cohoes) to work in the mills. What do you have on your Reed/Reid family and their movements?

Hi

Sorry about the dclay in replying, things have been hectic! My gt, gt grandmother was Annie Reed or Reid who I have found out came from Tubber. She married James Hagen in Taughboyne in 1867. They lived in Co Tyrone then moved to Glasgow around 1880. They had 11 children, 8 of whom I have a lot of info...the other 3 have disappeared. I suspect they may have moved to the USA or Canada. That's my next mission!

Regards

Laurence
