Jaz,

There is no parish named Wedhampton according to Parloc, a free parish locator prog from http://www.parloc.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/parlocdl.html nor has the LDS a film of any records from there.

You could try nearby villages found via Google Earth e.g. Chirton.

Jaz,

Looking at an 1888 map of Wedhampton _ see http://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.htm - there's a footpath from Wed' through a private estate to St John the Baptist church in Chirton so that's where to search via the Hugh Wallis site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle

Chas

Jaz,

Did you notice that the map shows a chapel in Wed' but the LDS have not filmed its records so you should contact the WIL records office.

just an update, i had to wait until today to ring the Records Office as they were closed on monday, they said Wedhampton came under Urchfont and had records from 1838, they looked through but found no trace my Hannah at all, never mind she will turn up one day,

Jaz,

Looking through the LDS library catalogue shows a few films of the parish records so it might be an idea to hire a film at your nearest LDS church which has a Family History Centry - costs £7.50 for three month hire and search.

Hi. No reason for finding this particular thread other than was researching something else in Wedhampton!! The Village (hamlet) of Wedhampton is part of the Parish of Urchfont ( I live in Urchfont). I believe the Harris family still own Wedhampton Manor. Don't know if that helps at all...

Hi If it helps a little further I know the family a bit. The Harris family currently in residence in Wedhampton are the same family who once owned the Harris Bacon Factory (founded circa 1770) in Calne in North Wiltshire
