Title: Ardglass, Parish Registers - Mary Boal

Hi,

I am looking for the birth of Mary Boal in 1848, in Ardglass.  Her parents were Charles Boal and Jane Harper.  They were married in 1830 in Downpatrick, Ireland.  Some of Mary's older  siblings were born in Downpatrick.  On Mary's wedding certificate her birthplace is recorded as Ardglass, Ireland.  But in the 1851 Census, the family is living in Harrington, Cumberland, England.  On the Census, Mary's birthplace is recorded as Harrington, Cumberland, England.  I am trying to sort out this quandary.  To our knowledge, the family's religion was Presbyterian.

I too am researching this branch of the Boal  family. I particularly would like to know when in 1852, and on which ship Charles, Jane and family arrived in Australia.

Helping a friend with her family research
Charles Boal is her Gt Gt Gt Grandfather through his daughter Catherine b 1832 who married Andrew Richey.

Have not been able to find the ship they arrived on.

Any help appreciated

Ardglass birthand christening records for these early years ie 1848, do not appear to have survived in that form. Ros Davies Co Down website on Rootsweb goes through each denominations churches and notes the surviving records. a check at PRONI website should confirm this. Other sources might be in existing intermarrying other surname family trees, or  someones diaries etc But this is rarely rewarded research so the best of luck Also try the special genealogical search engine on NIFHS. Ros Davies is worth contacting and offering your surname interests into her selfhelp list.


Tell us the oldest downpatrick birth you have re her syblings please good luck, Jim

More interested in the Aussie end of the family especially the ship they arrived.
Charles Boal and his family tree are on Ancestry.com.au in over half a dozen trees  -  lots of good info. Probate, death and marriage certs and some photos.

Just wanting to find the sailing ship they arrived in Melbourne around 1852 please
