Sounds as though you haven't her birth certificate as both parents should be named on it (unless illegitimate in which case only the mother). You can search for the birth registration in Index to Civil Registrations (free) and once you have the name (as appears in index/on certificate), year/quarter, registration district, volume and page numbers you'll be able to order the birth certificate (if you search 1st and last name and then narrow down by date (1930-1939) you'll find it).

If you start by getting the birth certificate you should then have her exact place of birth, mother's name and, hopefully, her father's name and occupation.
Then, you can check 1911 census for both parents, perhaps get a marriage certificate, etc.
Should also add that once you get the birth certificate you'll have an idea of where the family might have gone to church so you can see if there are any church records which might help fill in more details.

If you search civil registration index you will see the registration district which will give you an idea of the location but you'd need to order the actual certificate to find the mother's name and any other details.
