Title: Mattabenny, Agherton
Post by: Anne Wilson on Tuesday 29 September 09 10:44 BST (UK)
I've just received a copy of a death cert. (1875, registered in Coleraine Dist.) which lists the place of death as Mattabenny, Agherton.
Can anyone tell me where this is please?
Have googled it & found details on Agherton parish but can't find anything on Mattabenny.
Cheers
Annie

I think that you'll find the townland is Maddybenny Beg or Maddybenny More (just outside the town of Coleraine) in the parish of Ballyaghran.

Thanks for that Aghadowey, that certainly seems the most likely....sorry for taking so long to reply, but have recently moved house and only just got my internet reconnected.

I know that Ballyaghran and Agherton are the same parish. Which is the modern name?
