I am trying to track down the family history for my Great Great Grandfather, Thomas Ackerley Robins. I believe he was born 1812 in Cornwall, he was christened 17 Jan 1813 St Gluvias, Cornwall. He died in Victoria, Australia, in 1879. Not even his death certificate states exactly where he was born & who his parents were. Can any one help me. I am totally stuck.

Hi koch,
A Big Welcome to RootsChat. ;D
Thomas ROBINS was baptised 17 Jan 1813 St Gluvias parents William and Jane
He had a sister Elizabeth Ackerly ROBINS baptised the same day.
also note
William ROBINS 3 July 1808
and
Gertrude Trethewey ROBINS 17 Jun 1810 parents William and Jenefer
from the Penryn Wesleyan Register
Mary Ackerly ROBINS born 19 Jun 1815 and bap 21 Sep 1817 parents William and Jenefer (Butcher of Penryn)
Jane Agnes ROBINS was born 1 Nov 1816 and bap 21 Sep 1817 " above
The marriage was nearby in the Parish of Mabe (Please note Jane and Jennifer are interchangeable names)
ROBINS William = ACKERLY Jenefer 22 Apr 1807 Mabe

Not sure if you are familiar with the Online Parish Clerks which provide online information for various towns/cities of Cornwall.
The Online Parish Clerk for St Gluvias can be reached at the following website:

Perhaps you can search the accessible online database available on the website for additional information.

I will include the link for the tree I posted to your thread re Elizabeth Fowler

I would suggest this needs checking. I am convinced there are errors - I do not believe the St Austell births are from the same family. St Austell baptisms are listed here
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~staustell/SubIndexes/SABirthIndx.htm
These children are still in St Austell in 1841 with mother Jane. (Looks like dad William died in 1837 aged 57)

I note the different is occ in the baptisms from St Austell. We have from the Wesleyan baptisms that your William was a butcher
Also note the Uny Lelant baptism the father is a brewer and this girl is still in Cornwall unwed in 1851 so also not from the same family

Some interesting things here

I would like to see the passenger list for the ANN. We have a birth in 1816 then emigration in 1833 with a few more births - meaning they have been married over 30 years when they have their last child and if that was the case one would certainly expect to see birth between 1816 and 1833. (just not those listed in this tree) It would also mean Jane must have married very young. There are two possibles in Mabe
Jenefer ACKERLY 23 Feb 1789 parents John and Elizabeth (John Ackerly of Mabe = Elizabeth GEACH 4 Jan 1782 at Budock)
Jenefer ACKERLY 18 Apr 1793 parents Edward and Mary (don't see that marriage)
I do note with the Tas births for Louisa Ann and Emma Jane parents are listed as William and Jane (No surname for Jane) :-\
I am a little concerned that a woman of that age would would have so many quick births. Usually we would notice the decline in births to a couple over the years and even a large gap followed by one when mum is in her mid to late 40's. Births in quick succession like this reeks of a younger woman. It may pay to follow these later children to death and hope their mother is named. I am sure our Australian members will be able to help with this.
Cheers Kris :)

Hi again koch,
I am not able to perform thorough searches in Vic so Just to let you know I have asked for some help with the deaths of these three who were born in Tas. I am not convinced they were born to the same couple and I hope the mothers surname is listed in the death entries.
