Hi MMC528
To avoid us duplicating what you may already know - have you already got Census etc for these people?
What kinds of leads are you looking for?
Cheers :)

In 1841, Rothwell, there's just John, William and Joseph, no Sarah - I wonder if she's his 2nd wife?
Here's baptisms for John and brother Henry.
John Graham baptised 23/5/1813 Rothwell, parents William and Mary.
Henry Graham baptised 24/6/1824 Rothwell, parents William and Mary.

Hello MMC52B
I can see from the number of your posts that you are relatively new to rootschat. I am quite new too and there are a lot of people on here who have been very helpful to me. I have always tried to look things up for myself first (not always successfully!) and forgive me if I am preaching to the converted but:
familysearch.org has transcripts of births, marriages and some burials pre-1837 for Engalnd and a free transcript of the 1881 census.
freebmd.org.uk has births, deaths and marriages from 1837 onwards
genuki.org.uk has a lot of background information on parishes, churches, etc.
All of this is free. Again, forgive me if I am telling you what you already know.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am aware and have used the online sources you mention. I have, however, had real problems in tracing my father's family, the Grahams, due in part because he seems to have given false information about himself. I am beginning to wonder whether his marriage to my mother may have been bigamous and he was anxious that his first, possible wartime, marriage was not traced. I would really like to find other descendants of the Rothwell Graham family who may have additional information. It was kind of you to post.

Hello MMC52B
Are you talking about a marriage during World War II? If so, no-one is likely to post about this for privacy reasons as the people you are looking for may be living.
I don't think the FreeBMD has been transcribed for the 1940s yet but if you subscribe to ancestry then you will be able to search for appropriate marriages. Sorry I can't help as my ancestry subscription has expired.

Thank you for your reply. No, it would have been around 1917-20 and would have been between William Albert Graham (who was born in Stratford, London but whose roots were in Yorkshire) and? I have obtained a couple of marriage certificates which proved not to be the right William.... My father died in 1972.

Have you any idea where they may have married?
-
I am afraid not, nor even if he did marry before 1935 (when he married my mother) but it would explain why he tweaked various dates. Thanks for your interest.
