Thank you for all this information on the Rawlins - however, one query
Maria daughter of Robert and Ann Rawlins
Born 4 September 1811
Baptised 6 October 1811
Maria daughter of Robert and Ann Rawlins
Born 31 October 1811
Baptised 25 December 1811
There seems to be a double entry for what looks like the same child - are you able to tell me which might be the correct one please.

Jacqui:
I'm afraid I simply transcribed the entries as they came up on the microfilm, and have no other information on the connections in the family other than can be worked out from them.
I note that there were two boys baptised "Robert", one in 1777 (son of Robert and Mary) and another in 1781 (son of William and Ann). It is just possible that both these Roberts married ladies named Ann (though not in Whiteparish or Landford that I could see!) and both couples decided to baptise daughters Maria in the last quarter of 1811 - perhaps after a well-loved local resident or a "celebrity" public figure.
Sorry not to be of more help.

Anyone any idea what happened in the 1790's at Earldoms?
I am trying to trace the baptism/birth of a Jane Rawlings who married a John Moody at Downton in 1814. The 1861 census gives her birth place as Earldoms, Wiltshire about 1793.
Tantalisingly there is a record on Ancestry.com of a Jane Rawlings baptised on 11 Jan 1795 to Robert and Anne Rawlins - but it is at given as at Compton Bassett Wilts. which seems to be about 50 miles away :(
Any help welcome,
Cheers.

Have checked my records Whiteparish/Landford/Sherfield English and my Tree - unfortunately no Jane Rawlins(ings) as such - Did see the marriage you mention in Downton Marriage Files. I have checked my Ancestry.co.uk and there is one family that does have a Jane Rawlins married to a John Moody - Jane born 28 Aug 1792 Downton - however, i cannot substantiate this via the online DOWNTON baptism records and i don't have the microfiche for Downton. Sorry not to be of more help - but good luck.
