Title: I am completely stuck!!!
Post by: netparsley on Thursday 24 September 09 02:52 BST (UK)
Well I have hit a brick wall in my family history. So maybe someone else can see a way out. I have lost Hannah Mees after she marries Edward Jones in 1863!!
This is what I have:
Hannah Mees/Meese born 24th December 1845 Netherton Dudley to parents Henry and Sylvia Mees/Meese.
I have this family on the 1841 census in Primrose Hill Netherton, 1851 census in St Andrew's Netherton and 1861 census in Kingswinford Brierley Hill.
Hannah Mees married Edward Jones 9th August 1863 at St Mark's Pensnett. She is 17 and he is 21. Edward Jones born May 1842 Kingswinford Staffordshire to parents Edward and Louisa Jones.
I can't find Hannah and Edward Jones after that. Any census entries I find don't match ages of Hannah and Edward or birthplaces are different.
Any help greatly appreciated, Annette

Hi Annette, are you sure they didn't emigrate?  There are a few deaths for an Edward Jones between 1863 and 1871, and a few Marriages for a Hannah Jones, maybe Edward died and Hannah re-married?  Shame the surname is Jones, makes it so difficult to track anyone down.  Linell.

They may have immigrated. I have checked records to Australia but can't see any matches. Could you send me the death and marriage entries that relate to Edward Jones and Hannah,
Regards,
Annette

Hi Annette the best way to do it is too search for all the Hannah Jones's in 1871 or 1881 that Married between 1863 and 1871, see if she has the same details as Hannah Meese, also look and see if any of the Meese family are living with her or next door.  I would check the Dudley and Stourbridge Registration ones, good luck there are a few all on Free BMD:- www.freebmd.org.uk

Hi Annette, I would also look for Hannnah's parents in 71/81 see if there is a Hannah ? of more or less the right age living near them.  Good luck from Linell.

You have put
'1867
Age 24
Birth of Myra Minnie Bromley
Brierly Hill, Staffordshire, England'

Do you mean that this is the birth of Myra Minnie Jones, who later married Mr Bromley, and 24 is the age of her Father?  If so, have you actually found a registered birth or is the 1867 just from age in censuses or age at death?

Similarly you have
'1868  Age 25  Immigration'
Have you found the evidence of immigration year, or is that just what they stated after the event from e.g. what was written in a census?

Just realised that the original post is more than 10 years old, and netparsley has not been active on the boards since 2012.  Saw September and 2**9 and stupidly it did not register as 2009 NOT 2019.

(So netparsley did not check the GRO because it was not available then)

But they still might get an email notifying them of replies.

Thank you all for your responses!! I am so happy that you have found them. I have been a bit quiet on the family history front but will get back into it again now.
